I hate all the people who cuss this genious. Sure, he's
spewed out some REALLY cheesy arsecrap, BUT he has done some
REALLY amazing shit, and has been an influence on modern
electronic music (in a different light to Kraftwerk.)
Also, his new album is some weird jazz/experimental shit
and rules cock. He is fukin' classically trained, so he
knows his shit, and you can hear it. Why do you lot hate
him? I mean, I can kinda get why you hate Moby, but Jarre is
a great musician and has done some ambient masterpices (the
46-minute underwater masterpice, "Waiting For Cousteau", and
Oxygene1) and also some neo-classical suff (Chronologie)
mixed with techno.....

Be open minded people!

Why the fuck not? What's crap about him? And don't give me
the cheesy bullshit-yes, he makes some cheesy cack
sometimes, c'mon, we all want money. BUT his new stuff is
clever, emmotinal, and special...and his early stuff was all
great (very spacey and analog sounding, but great)...full of
mellotron washes and Moog basslines.

Oh, and Tangerine Dream and Vangelis rule too. (They even
have crowns, they do!)

I'm not either...

A pity, because I love France & the French (possibly more so
than the UK) but you gotta draw the line somewhere...

and JMJ is definately on the wrong side of that line...

TD & Vangelis...yep, they have their moments of pure
genius/beauty...

but I'm still having a problem with JMJ...

WHY!?

Listen to Waiting For Costeau...brilliant sutff! How can you
NOT at least appreciate it? Or Sessions 2000? Or Oxygene7?
Can't you at least APPRECIATE it's greatness? I mean, I hate
Mozart BUT I can see why he is a genious.

Tangerine Dream are increadable (beat fukin' Aphex anyday,
imho...they were doing all those ambient sounscapes 25 years
before, and better!) and so does Vangelis (heard Mythodea?
Listen to that and tell me Vangelis is "cheesy"! Or, Heaven
and Hell...both are experimental and beautiful and
powerful!)

his music is great, especially 1st 3 albums, but when he
plays live, playing that daft light piano makes him look
more chirpier and stupid than paul mccartney on cocaine

Why?...

He's just too smooth & , dare I say it, nice...doesn't seem
to have any edge...

That whole "Synth Wizard" image still haunts him I think....

Yes, I agree-he seems on drugs when he plays live (though
his recent concerts were much more sensible)

Not all his music is nice/simple. Just the stuff you might
have heard. Quite a lot of it is weird (Zoolook) or grand
(Rendez-Vous) or just plain varied and enjoyable
(Chronologie)..some of Oxygene7-13 is actually very
complicated, if you actually listen to what he's doing
musically.

JMJ is nothing much really. Musically he sucks. Let's face
it he doesn't really have that much talent. He built
himself up with his father's fortune and exibits the same
lack of musical ... soul let's say. Yes his old stuff is
good but it's hardly genious. His forte is not in music it's
in the huge shows he puts on making use of landmarks such as
the Eiffel Tower (clearly the world's greatest landmark
where firework displays and the like are concerned.)
Plus I hate the guy because the fucker doesn't age!
Enfoiré!

he sucks musically?

Well, then the RDJ album sucks too. Sure, the rythms and
sounds are more advanced than Jarre, but the
meldodies/harmonies are far more simple than, say,
Oxygene7-13's material. They suck. Listen to Girl/Boy song.
Wow, the drums rule. The ridiculous tune doesn't. I still
love it.
Listen to Oygene 10. It has nice sounds. No drumline to
speak of. No alien textures really...yet, the melody is
developed, and powerful, and the harmony is original. I love
this track too.

He does NOT musically suck.

It's all a matter of the way you look at it.

I re-read myself and have to take that back (the sucks
part). Jeez I've got 3 albums anyway! I'm just a tad sick of
him that's all. However I haven't listened to anything
recent by him. Has he done anything since that remix cd
Odysey to O2?

Yeah, Metamorphoses which has him singing on it! It's very
different, a breath of fresh air (although, there is a
cheesy pop track or two, but the rest is great) and his new
jazzy weird album, Sessions2000, which is so different you
won't even think it's him.

He don't think he's very cool, however the Zoolook album i
really liked :)

I thought Metamorphoses was only soso, but it had some okay
songs on it imo.

The new one i will check out... i'm curious now! :D

Well, don't expect TOO much...it's short and feels like a
side-project, but yes-it's original. And the first two/three
tracks are amazing (and the last is nice and atmospheric)
