Yepski! Current detroit techno (adult et all) are very
good.

I can't wait to see Carl Craig at ATP...

theres nothing wrong with having money and being successful.
it's just that when you turn into an arrogant prick you
start to look like a rich bitch, yanno. they have money but
they don't flash it around and have million dollar homes.
anyways, i think there lyrics are funny as hell and shaggy
is the shit on turn tables.

Insane Clown Posse also hate bigots yet are blindly
homophobic. I used to listen to them but when I woke up I
sold my very large ICP collection to a record store for
£25. He wanted to give me more but I told him it wasn't
worth it (even tho I paid that for one of the CDs new
alone.)

Anyway I do like Detroit Techno. Jeff Mills live @ the
liquid room tokyo '95 kicks! }:>

calling someone a faggot is not being homophobic. if it is,
then calling someone an asshole would also mean ur
homophobic cuz ur scared of asshole.

Erm, How about killing people because they are a 'faggot'
does that count? That is a great message to send to
influential fans yeah?

i've listened to almost all of icp's shit and ive never
heard anything like that. you could maybe consider slim
anus to be like that but its not directly towards gays, its
just dissin eminem.

Oh I like Slim Anus still :>

But dude, I can't remember what CD but I can recall a very
quiet track on one CD that displays hate towards gays. It
takes nothing to see they blindly hate gays but it's not
right for me to bring this up about someone you admire as we
are both bound to defend our viewpoints. Plus I've kinda
drawn this topic away from it's original intent so I'll back
down.

I listened to 'Fuck Off' by Shaggy 2 Dope real loud on
headphones once on a bus and made the kind granny who let me
sit next to her get up and move to the front of the bus a
few miles before her stop. I used to be a right little dick
head. :>

i know what you mean, but i honestly don't think they would
make fun of a person who is really gay, becuz they are gay.
i just think calling someone a faggot is an insult they use.
but yes it is sort of hypocritical, but aren't we all in
some ways?

Yes, it's a bit like calling someone a retard- it shouldn't
be an insult, but a lot of peopel do it. they aren't
actually (well, I'd like to think most people aren't) making
fun of handicapped people, it's just a stupid insult that
has lost its original meaning a bit.

offline NeoExmnist from United States on 2003-03-07 09:03 [#00584749]
Points: 1385 Status: Lurker

yes indeed. i think we've come to a sort of understanding.
i feel good about this :)

Well yes but I would like to think I know the difference
between playfulness, arousing a response and hate. But I
mean at least there is a compelling argument against what I
have to say. I heard a story of them beating up a
transvestite (tempting but very hurtful towards that person)
and the track where one of ICP are getting rather angry with
a kid drawing a gay pride symbol on their workbook. It's
kinda dangerous in my eyes to joke about shit like this when
you are in a position to influence people. I've seen too
many of my gay friends crying because of abuse they have
undergone.

But as I say, I'd rather not discuss as you are hardly going
to sway my opinion and I'm sure I won't change a jugallo. (I
hope I got that right or I'll look quite the twat. :>)

What if you call a handicapped person a retard with hate
behind it?

I'm missing my break here and need a piss!!! *runs off for a

but only an asshole would call a retarded person an asshole.
but i call my friends, which are not handicapped in any
way, retards all the time. it's not exactly right but you
and ur friends know that you are just kidding around.

Yes, I certainly agree to that. I'd say preventing someone
from voicing any hate they hold could be damaging too so no
one ever wins at whatever the limit is to your thoughts.

I prolly still have a few ICP CDs kicking around, I'll let
you know if I do Neo.

Yes and you can make fun of a handicapped person even using
politaclly correct terms if you're a ****er. Saying "He's
differently abled" in a stage whisper in front of a person
in a wheelchair for example.

It's more about the tone of voice, company (people present)
and situation than the words themselves that convey the
insult.

Like one of my flatmates calls me a "sheep shagger" which is
a racial slur against me. It's funny because I know he's
messing about and saying it in a comedy welsh accent. It's
far more offensive when someone I'm not that friendly with
snidely mentions "he's Welsh"...

offline hobbes from age on 2003-03-07 14:05 [#00585149]
Points: 8168 Status: Lurker

yeah...born from drowned slaves...they formed an aquatic
civilisation....
drexciya is a planet near vega..
.the last thing they did before one member passed away was
create 7 storms based around an album called harnessed the
storm(tresor)...the other people place and translusion are a
part of the storms...
i know they wanted each storms to start off in different
parts of the world..therefore using different
labels.....etc....etc...
the man who died stayed a truck driver all his life and
rarely went out...saddly they never performed live...though
there were hints that they would after having sent some
drexciyan stingray scouts...ATP....

offline Loogie from Oxford (United Kingdom) on 2003-03-07 14:09 [#00585154]

what exactly are the "storms" they created?

offline hobbes from age on 2003-03-07 14:13 [#00585157]
Points: 8168 Status: Lurker

i think there not all out...theres the opp on warp..2
translusions on rephlex...grava 4 on tresor..and harnessed
to the storm...
apparently it will all make sense once there all out....

leave and gave directions to different labels as to what to
do once hes gone back to drexciya.
