what are some of you people giving up for lent? i'm trying
my hardest not to be so addicted to these internet
messageboards and tryign to get some actual work done, but
it's extremely difficult.

lol

part of the fasting of lent is not boasting about it.

Anyone you hear blabbing about what they are giving up is a
hypocrite.

lent would be a good name for a band,

but I'm not giving up anything up for this ridiculous
religious whatchamacallit

nicotene.

i dont think anyone has boasted so far, so let's give them a
chance to do so first.

then we will reprimand them and make them feel awful

Buying any records or music equipment.

More for finanancial reasons than piety ;)

I'm also giving up alcohol until ATP.

records+cds aren't entirely "habits" for you, are they??
i hope you have thought over this

well, I didn't mean boasting

The point is not to make yourself out to be a martyr. So if
you say to people, hey, I'm giving up sugar or something,
you are asking for something, at least sympothy for your
"pain"

Boasting, imo = even telling anyone what you give up,
otherwise, you've defeated the entire point of obstaining
from something.

if anyone feels like sharing then they ought to share. if
they contain it all inside i think they stand a chance at
"breaking" easier, you know what i mean?

but it isn't about if you "break" or not, it's the reasons
behind why you try.

If you are giving up meat, then the only person that would
need to know is your mum if she cooks meals for you.

When you go out to dinner, announce you aren't eating meat
becuase of lent, you have completely ruined the concept of
fasting.

seriously. but i understand what you mean now.

Believe me, I have a serious "record habit". :)

Besides, giving up alcohol is a proper one...

it is. i was only speaking of your record buying+listening
habit. music is good for you, man!

hmm

i guess giving buying loads of new ones will allow you some
time w/ the sounds you already own, which is a good thing.
good luck to you sir!

For real. The best fucking masterpieces in the history of
electronic music!
