I just installed the reason 2 demo last night. I like it a
lot so far even though it's not quite as intuitive as I
would like...

Floops 4 looks worth buying...

Re:Reason The way the rack works seems a bit silly- I'd like
to be able to detach the sequencer and put it on the side
and also be able to put "half rack slot" bits on the side as
well- I have a 22" monitor and I can't see enough on screen
at once. I hate to think how someone with a 15/17" monitor
would manage...

that's why i just would buy a notebook with a 1600x1200
resolution, you never can see enough ;)

I run 16000*1200 and that's still not enough for Reason.

Oh for a Citrix farm of 8 machines running a 3x3 bank of 22"
monitors...

Ceri - It IS possible to detach the sequencer...
About the screen resolution - I don?t know - are you trying
to see the WHOLE rack at once?!?!
I used to have two monitors but, i put the second one in the
basement, I got quite unfocused looking at two screens... ;

I hope some generous person slaps the new FL on the net for
all to download. No money = no decent software of any kind,
legally.

i like the looks of those new effects.. but like monoid
says.. no vst = stupidity.. when propellerheads put vst/vsti
support in reason (3.0?) they will receive my money.. just
like image line is going to receive my money for fl studio..
it finally does audio recording and the new playlist looks
like *exactly* what i've been waiting for in floops..

and i never would have discovered my love for either of them
without pirating ^_^

ok I need a program that is both a tracker/floops style
program but is also one w/ it's own [basic-un affected,
simple] sounds .. like piano, violin, cello guitar etc..
because I do not have a good keyboard .. is Reason good for
this?

offline redRummy from Brighton (United Kingdom) on 2003-03-05 16:28 [#00582260]

you don't need a good keyboard - check out a VSTi compatible
host - you'll get all the insturments you need.

For info, the Reason II includes a new synth module too (or
is it a new sampler??)

Get a copy of Cubase a wire in the Reason sampler to it.....
this is how 'its' being done at the mo'.

I read an interview with one of the founding members of
propellerheads in sound on sound magazine...

Basically he said:

No VSTi as allowing other people's stuff to hog resources
could give our s/w a reputation as unstable and/or lose our
reputation as having very low required specs for what the sw
does.

He's not entirely against piracy as most people find the
software that way and a few (esp. those who perform live
with it) then buy a legit copy.

Hope that helps.

I'm not sure it says you need the Reason 2.0 disks and a new
licence # to fully install 2.5.

oh...too bad...guess that?s why you are so eager to join the
eu... ;)

Reason 2.5 is unbelievable good - more optimized code means
I?m getting 25% more CPU power without buy a new PowerBook!
(and that?s great cause PB?s doesn?t have much mhz/ghz... ;)
)

offline hyakusen from 8=============> on 2003-05-08 15:37 [#00690148]

yes that's why , but for me it is not very funny to live
here where i must work for 2 m to buy software....
i dont really think that eu is going to change anything, at
least not so quicly...

...It?s a bit the same here (and everywhere - hehe, indie
musicmakers aren?t really the rich...) But I guess the
levels of costs differ... Bias Peak (audioeditor) costs
about 700 euros in sweden - that?s quite pricey software for
me... ;)

little question re: reason (with cubase in mind.)

i understand that you can have midi tracks in cubase trigger
reason instuments and effects via rewire [much like a vsti].
also you can route audio OUT from reason to cubase ..

my question is this. can you route audio IN (ie. from cubase
to reason?) ie. have a vocal track in cubase and filter it
through the vocoder?? or would you have to load the vocal
track as a sample in the sampler??

any comments would be much appreciated.

Is it possible to get Reason 2.5 update to work with a
pirate copy of Reason 2.0?

why are so many people contemplating pirated music
software?
it's expensive sure, but go and have a look at how much you
would pay for the hardware...phhh did someone say"$10,000+"?
so paying $250 forcubase is well worth it if u ask me,
reason not as good still worth it tho, sell you're grandma

Yep NI new Vocoder...it makes the vocoder in Reason look
like a toy, it is unbeleivably flexible and a joy to work
with.

The only complaint I have with it is the fact that when you
have all of the sections expanded to view, part of it
disappears from the screen and there is no scroll bar so you
can to minimise sections :(
