Religion.

I'm thinking of getting back into Paganism again.I never
really took it seriously before, but I think i'm ready to
start again,as i'm in need of some spiritual direction in
life.I'm quite a spiritual person anyway,or so I like to
belive.
Does anyone else "follow" a religion?

I was never part of a religion but I've always felt strongly
about certain things, nature, polarity of male and
female,peace etc.
And Paganism fits perfectly to my needs.

I don't wan't to start no shit here but,I always thought of
Christianity as a law rather than a Religion.I thought it
was designed to scare people into doing what is though
right,as it is quite forced upon people.IMO.

Following someone who sees no further than his own behind?
Excuse me.

the whole deal of christianity started when mary and joseph
had sex and lied about it.

officially the bible did not even exist before 300 AD. this
shows just how made up it is as there are no other records
of the events.

Religion is dying in my opinion. How many people SERIOUSLY
believe in religion nowadays as opposed to, say, 50 years
ago?

What gets on my tits is religious hypocrisy. Look at Bush &
Blair; devout Christians who are about to flout 'Thou shalt
not kill' with eagerness. To me, that's like flicking Vs to
the God Almighty.

movement.

i had an interesting thought last week

whats a more attractive idea of an afterlife to you, heaven
or reincarnation?

offline TonePu5her from lincoln !UK! (United Kingdom) on 2003-03-03 10:48 [#00578716]
Points: 3640 Status: Regular

Reicarnation I suppose,as I don't belive in heaven,I am not
Christian, you'd have to be Christian to belive in heaven.
But if there was a heaven I'd still choose reincarnation
because,I am Pagan,Pagans belive in nature.Nature is both
good and bad, positive and negitive, male and female, its all
based on polarity. Therefore Heaven could not exist without
some extent of evil, for what is light without dark?

I tried to make sense and I hope I did.

I also respect all religions,for that matter,even
Satanism. You belive what you belive and in most countries
its your right.Don't mistake me,I do not agree with
Satanism,but I respect it.

Religion (IMO) is just a guideline for people that dont like
their lives to be wrapped up in a nice neat little package.
Its easy to live a good life without religion. Be positive
about life. Be nice to people. Respect the earth and all
that she keeps alive.

I dont like this whole "ohh dont eat meat on this day" and
"dont have sex before you do this". Its not right. Hell if I
want to get myself off, then I will. I never understood why
that was considered bad!

WHOOPS! Big error here. The first "dont" in that paragraph
shouldnt be there.

so then we have not one person here with any REAL idea of
what makes up the fabric of the universe or man's existence
in it?

I just (try to) believe in myself and the values who are
important to me.

And Jesus died for his own sins, not mine :)
(read this one on a t shirt once, from Crass I guess)

how sad to see people who think any God they follow has to
cater to their opinions... do you believe you are sufficient
to judge a God? anyone here who does, please feel free to
crown yourself now... becuase you obviously deserve to win

as the one and only christian on this board (apparently), i
can say this:

i feel sorry for you all, that you are so very bitter with
your maker... and that you are hateful towards his people.
no doubt i will get alot of slack for this, but i must
say... if i was buddhist would you hate me for expressing my
views? what about muslim? jewish? no, somehow i doubt it.
i'm no preacher, and i don't claim to have all the answers.
but i am very sorry for some of you here who believe you are
superior to God. subjective perception is an illusion. there
IS a such thing as concrete reality. and in it, there are
things that any educated and willing observer can see. one
of them is that an intelligent form, a deity, created man
and everything we can see. im sorry to rant, i dont mean to,
and im sorry that alot of you will be upset by this... but
creature comforts are not the foundation of undeniable
truth.

i do have problems with the truth argument. and ideas of
there being a superior faith. its all very personal. i
consider myself to be level headed and unbiased, and im
proud of that.
