[ripped from the Planet Mu forum]

"Autechre's last ever press interview!"

Next months Future Music magazine — on sale 25th
March

This is the blurb from this months mag...

"Late in January, we managed to get what Autechre are
calling their last press event... ever. In anticipation of
the release of their new album Draft 7.30, Autechre hired
out a hotel near Reading for the week and invited the
world's press along for a final grilling (as well as a few
cocktails, coffees and canapés). Watch out next month for
our interveiw with the pair, plus our rating of the new
album (even if the promo they sent out was in cassette
version only)!"

though it sounds a bit like a stars' caprice to hire a full
hotel and receptions and cocktails and all that, and say it
will be the last interview... doesn't it?

maybe they are content not to release any more music, and
therefore will not have anything more to say...

there isnt so much you can say about music anyway...see what
you mean bout hiring a hotel...maybe they just hired a
room...maybe theyr gonna get into more depths regarding
tracks...and what they were trying to achieve

No no! We've already established for FACT that they hired an
entire hotel in Reading. It says so in that Planet Mu text,
so it is true.

don't say things like that monoid!

i'm dying for some new commentary from them, i read lots and
lots of stuff on autechre.nu but it's generally pretty dated

Yup, Takeshi Kitano.

The particular shot from which the avatar is culled is in
Brother.

Yes, Takeshi Kitano, now I remember.
I want to see Brother. I have heard much about it. Some hate
it, other praise it.

maybe they're just done talking about the music. i've
gathered that they're of the opinion that the music speaks
for itself and all the chit chat about the process of making
it and how they feel about it isn't necessary. am i
delusional or have others got this same impression from
their interviews? they might finally just let the music be.

If they DO go their seperate ways... then instead of an
Autechre album every year or so, we'll get a Booth AND a
Brown.

Nope. They'll probably each be about 75% as good as
Autechre.

75+75= 150%

(*would)

i think if they work together it is for a reason...

i dont think they have any reason to break up. ive read that
alot of their songs already are solo, so there would be no
point.

Largely underrated because western critics just couldn't
grasp the unique nature of a Kitano film.

I like japanese culture, that's why I am interested in the
movie. But it is exactly as you say. Western critics doesn't
understand it.

Brother amused me greatly. A lot of people expected Kitano
to go to the US and do a 'John Woo' - make a typical
Hollywood movie with a few of his own directorial
trademarks.

Of course, Kitano just made the same kind of movie he always
makes, the only difference being setting it in Los Angeles.

I bet that pissed a few people off ;)
