Question about artists and downloads

Anybody know where musicians stand on music downloads and
their effect on the music industry, top to bottom.
Titsworth's provided a great article on DJ Shadow and his
disapproval of downloads for its negative effect on smaller
labels. I was wondering if anybody else knew about other
opinions and essays by other artists.

Links and pasted articles would be appreciated, too. Note
that I am not questioning the ethics or legality of
downloads, I just want information. I am not judging, just
examining.

Thanks in advance.

Boards of Canada said the same thing. Buy music from smaller
labels, download and burn shit like Madonna, and such. ^^

Unless you plan on buying the legit copy later or are
getting a preliminary taste of an artsist you haven't heard,
I am against d/ling. Even the corporate stuff. If
everybody thinks that it's OK to rip off the industry
giants, then it's only logical that they will go broke
eventually just like the small labels. Stop trying to beat
the system! Just shell out a few bucks for stuff you like!

*now open to public ridicule ;)*

*drags topic back up by hair*

Thanks, uviol, but I'm not asking for opinions, I'm asking
for info...
