For Ceri and anyone else who can't access the page:

MASSIVE ATTACK STAR ARRESTED OVER ALLEGED INTERNET CHILD
PORN OFFENCES

MASSIVE ATTACK's 3-D has been arrested and questioned by
police over alleged Internet child porn offences.
The star, real name Robert Del Naja, was bailed by officers
working on Operation Ore, the national crackdown on child
porn.

Detectives seized computer equipment and a quantity of
suspected drugs during a raid at Del Naja's home in Bristol
on Monday (February 25).

A spokesman for Avon And Somerset Police said: "A man in his
30s from Bristol was arrested on February 25 in connection
with allegations of the possession of class A drugs and
Internet porn offences.

"He was bailed pending further inquiries."

The arrest was made under Avon And Somerset's Operation
Ricochet, part of Operation Ore, the national crackdown on
child porn.

Del Naja told The Sun newspaper today (February 27): "I have
never looked at child pornography in my life.

"I am co-operating fully with the police and I would aks
everyone not to judge me prematurely. I have total faith in
the justice system."

I would really like to think he's innocent. I can believe
the drugs charges, but kiddie porn?

I'll wait for more evidence before I make a decision on what
I think.

If he's guilty I'll join the lynch mob. It'll only be down
the road :P

Everything to do with porn can be dodgy these days. I've
downloaded a file off Kazaa which might have a name like
"Jenna Jameson Car Fuck" and then when it's finished it's
got a different file name like "My 14 Year Old Sister" and
you open it up and media player has another file name
like "Child Fuck Kiddy Cunt" - and it's some 50 year old
boiler drinking cum from a glass.

Can you get arrested for file names? Will they prosecute? Or
do they need actual hard evidence that the images are under
age? How do they determine it, by the number of pubes?
What's the distinction?

It's a very valid point and somthing I've wondered about.
Perhaps if they check the daye you DLed it, if you opened
it,watched it and didn't then delete it it'd be proof?

Maybe the courts view is that people who use p2p are
guilty...

jarworski, and everyone else, you may be interested to know
that nowadays your IP address is broadcast everywhere you
go, as opposed to the way it was about 2 years back. there
is a thing called a MAC address which comes from the
motherboard in your computer, i.e. it is unchangeable, and
about a year ago a new law was sneaked in quietly, allowing
the police unlimited access to server records of where your
IP/MAC address has been. it is called Operation Ricochet
because anyone viewing child porn is simply shooting
themselves in the foot immediately, as all the figures are
there for Big Brother to browse at his leisure. they are on
a mission to make an example of as many hi-profile celeb
cases as they can. There will be many more of these arrests,
just wait and see, it's just the beginning.
The worst part?: If you 'accidentally' view something dodgy,
there is a MAC trace proving that you looked at it.

George Orwell eat your heart out.

I wouldn't give a fuck if they're looking at everything I
do. I've never seen any underage porn in my life, and I
intend to keep it that way. Kazaa is rife with it but it's
easy to avoid (unless you download 'Daredevil' and it turns
out to be Michael Jackson and friends)

Interesting stuff indeed!

I think piracy etc. will go largely unchecked (far too much
to control), but for stuff like kiddie porn I think it's a
good idea. I'd like to see something in place to stop the
situation Jar described from happening.

For the extra paranoid, I'm sure there must be a way of
getting blackmarket MB chips that alter your MAC address?

Excuse my ignorance, but I take it your MAC address is
different to your Mac IP address (if you look at all IP
addys on your machine you see a mac one too...)?

jarworski, and everyone else, you may be interested to
know that nowadays your IP address is broadcast everywhere

I'm not sure if you're trying to scare people or just
misinformed. Your unique IP address has always been attached
to every web page and image you view and available to the
server operator. What has changed in the last few years is
the proliferation of broadband and increase in static IP
addresses, as opposed to dynamic IPs of dial-up. These make
it a bit easier to track people, but even a dial-up ISP will
(or should) have records of which phone number was using an
IP address at a certain time.

You're also confused about MAC (hardware) addresses. They
are not used in the manner in which you described to track
anything. They are fixed in hardware, but can be easily
changed in software and there are several legitimate reasons
for doing so.

In short you've made a very misleading post. :(

Yeah, that's happened to me... they always ''accidentally''
mislabel vids... you'll download ''Brianna Banks Dildo'' and
you'll get a guy getting his hands chopped off. Or the
particularly devious kiddy stuff... I've gotten a couple
''sneaky'' ones and then when I realized what they were...
arg. Thought maybe the guy I downloaded it from was maybe a
cop looking for sickos, but really, the file WAS named
innocently, and they can't nab me for downloading what I
THOUGHT was Zoe's Dildo Show!

(by the way, look for that vid, Zoe's good)

Anyone ever think that the "evidence" linking 3D to this
crime may have been manufactured by the police? After all he
is quite vociferous about his condemnation of any miltary
action against Iraq. Taking out 2 page ads in the NME and
things like that can't please the government.
