Lucid Dreaming

I have been partaking in this activity since i was little.
Within the last couple of years i have become more and more
sucessful at it over time.

Does anyone else here partake in this activity and does it
seem like a lot of IDM artist (ie RDJ, Goon) and listeneners
partake in this more often than those who listen to other
genres? (ie. Rap, Death Metal)

eh

what exactly is lucid dreaming?

offline virginpusher from County Clare on 2003-02-26 11:38 [#00571857]
Points: 27325 Status: Lurker

The ability to become aware that your dreaming inside of a
dream.

Example: a friend of yours comes up to you in a dream and
says/does something out of the ordinary, and you say to
yourself "this can't be real"

At a point like that you can realize you are dreaming and
take control of the course of your dream instead of just
floating along.

You can do some amazing things in a lucid dream!!

oooooo i know that!!!

yes thats fucking awesome

had it a couple of times, its decreasing now tho

the one i strongly remember was this time i was in this war
and everyone was fighting and i tought hell im gonna die...
but then i realised it couldnt be true so i had to be
dreaming

and i became immortal!

theres another one too, from my childhood (i was about 5 yrs
old)
do not laugh at me now, its a kind of a wacky story...

anyway there were these yellow creatures who looked like
fuzzy yellow spheres, who would come up to my bed, drag me
to the top of the house and throw me outta the window. The
dream started everytime with a carrousel of video tapes
spinning around and it slowly came to an end, and some
videos had yellow dots on it. every time the it stopped at a
yellow dotted tape, the creatures would come. I had these
very frequently, and after a while whenever the tapes
entered the show i could controll my dreams

....maybe im just disturbed

odd.. i didn't mean to use that word. I don't know why i
typed it. I am too sleepy.

Anus- Do reality checks alot. The second site i listed
really goes into that. Being able to do it is kinda like
mind over matter. There are variations like WILDS (wake
induced lucid dreams) where you set an alarm to wake you up
during your sleep do your drink water before bed so you will
wake up. Or just things that disrupt your sleeping pattern.
I usually wake up every 2 hours and can average 3-4 lucid
dreams per night.
There are also:
Thirst Induced Lucid Dreams
Pain Induced lucid Dreams (never tried)
and a whole list of others.

If you browse that second sites msg board (no i am not
advertising) they go real in depth with various tricks (ie
dream recall and whatnot) that might help you.

Actually most people experience it earlier in life. So you
could technically have the intellect of a child and pull it
off. My First Lucid dream was when i was five.

i have the power to escape from any too embarrassing
situation in my dreams!! just wishing i could escape is
enough to stop the dream and *poof!* no embarrassing
situation anymore! gone!

(i wish i could do that in reality...)

sometimes i do realise i'm dreaming too, but that doesn't
make me control the dream... or maybe if i really wanted, i
never really tried to do so.

sometimes, when stuck in thought and fantasy before sleep,
unable to rest the mind and my "talking andy" my thought
continues as i begin to fal asleep, so that i am not
dreaming in deep sleep, but only just as i've fallen
asleep.

i sometimes do this lying on my back, a position i don't
sleep well in, and i become aware of my body as i'm dreaming
and then there is this simultaneous experience of both my
body in bed and my body in the realm of fantasy. this is
acompanied by a feeling of a "force" or "energy" between my
two polarized bodies, a feeling as good as any chemically
induced high i've experienced. i can hold this experience
for only moments, but i can float around as if i'm just a
cloud of intelligence/sensation.

this has been happening on rare occasions for years and i'd
like to take it further and master it eventually. always
very sobering experience, gives me a "reborn" or fresh
vibrant feel to life.

cloud or a spirit floating too you re right its like a

yes virginpusher, very good site !

one of the worst thing i ever experienced.

tis a good thing :D

i keep starting a dream journal and i stop recording in it,
mainly because i never get a full night of sleep and am too
exhausted in the morn to get up a precious 10 minutes
earlier. apparently you remember more dreams when you
record them regularly and i imagine this could help with
lucidity as well.

We should all get into LDing and do an experiment such as

this

Or see if there really is a connection between LD and IDM. I
always wondered that.

Sleep Paralysis is crazy. I never liked it and it made me
panic kinda. But what gets me is the false awakenings. I had
like 9 in a row once that's my record.

very few dreams remembered.

My first lucid dream was when i was a child as well, of
course i didn't know there was a term called "lucid
dreaming" or that there was a term for it, or that it even
exists.

8-10 years pass and im doing it somewhat often, but only
when i can sleep in.

and well, with work, that never happens anymore it seems
like.

i cannot do it when being plastered drunk
when stoned / go to bed and take 5HTP supplimentary I can do
it now and then

sometimes when going to bed stoned you can wake up with a
cloudy head, so that doesn't always work

i do sleep with my wireless headphones on with saw 4/7nights
outa the week, well I try to at least.

i dont get sleep paralysis too often anymore (i do when
trying to lucid, like for the whole week if i can sleep in
and stuff) but i did have sleep paralysis in a dream, and it
was fucked up.

bout a month ago or so, woke up (in my dream) couldn't
move, saw my friends, waited,, waitied, blah blah finalyl
woke up, told them about it, then realized i was dreaming it
all, and then suddenly woke up.

i think there is a connection between Idm and Ld just b/c
most ppl get more in touch with themselves emotionally after
getting into IDM and experimenting with it.

i think this helps a lot when trying to LD

Well i think all music could essentially be good for it but
i have heard many compairisons from LD to IDM.

I like jazz and classical. Those would be others i would
try.

learn and try to learn the more common it becomes as opposed
to not studying it at all.

The good thing is you're already half way there. Just
reading about lucidity can make you lucid when you sleep.
You're priming your brain to take in the information that
this "can" happen and "will" be exciting. To increase your
chances you need to read as much as you can about the
subject

Oh and as for the looking at hands trick it works if you
constantly look at your hands before you goto sleep.

Just keep looking at them over and over while thinking about
lucid dreaming as your goal for the evening.

Eventually in your dream you will look at your hands and BAM
there you go.

manifest.

There are four stages of Lucidity

1: Low. Many people experience this. You realize that you
are dreaming during a dream but never really grasp the
concept. Clarity is lacking.

2: Medium. You can walk around and interact with your
enviroments but only for a short time.

3:high. Best Clarity. You have control 100% and are limited
by nothing but your own imagination

4:Absolute. The minute you close your eyes a lucid dream
begins. It ends when you desire. It also has 100% claritry.

I don't know how to do #4 yet i will eventually get it!

in a book he wrote jim dekorne speaks of his astral
projection were he uses lucid dreaming to travel around the
physical domain... claims to have found a book he lost in
his neighborhood as a child this way, and talks of one
experience meeting another lucid dreamer in astral
projection. i know that all sounds a little hokus pokus but
i've had enough unexplainable events occur to consider such
