I don't think their mainstream.I just think they wan't more
sales, for their new album, becuase I doubt anyone brought
their new album.IMO It was a big dissapointment.
I feel bad for them.

new.

i wouldn't say they are mainstream.
s club 7 are mainstream.
i think it is good that something like that gets to no.1 in
the album charts. i see it as a bit of education for the
knobbers buying justin timberlake.

i wouldnt say massive attack are mainstream - or do i mean
commercial - because mezzanine took a lot of listening to
for me to like it. Pop albums are usually liked on their 1st
listen, because of the catchy
tunes/lyrics/whatever-they-use-now.

100th window seems to be (at least vaguely) similar to
mezzanine, so i dont think they've become to mainstream. But
having said all of that, they have become well known - not
sure if there is a difference between mainstream and well
known

i've never heard it on the radio or mtv.. i dont think they
are too mainstream in the US just used for advertisements
and crap

them only as "oh that song from the commercial ive always
wanted but didn't know the name"

tricky left two or three albums ago.

what the fuck does mainstream mean - theiy're poular - there
is nothing wrong with that ..
they still operate on their own terms and do their own
thiing - they make their own music and have artistic
control .
the word mainstream means nothing - who cares - i heard
aphex three timews on some cooking prograqmme the other day
- very commercial or whatever - doesn'mean he's som e puppet
for a big corporation who has to do whatever the accountants
tell him or any of that crap

fuck! i know that tricky has his new solo albums! but he was
present on blue lines ,protection and mazzine(or
whatever...) and he is not present on 100th window!(4th
album btw) so the sentence "tricky left two or three albums
ago.

" is not true!!!

I didnt say that...just NZ has a weird relationship with
Massive Attack..the whole popular Culture seems to reorient
itself around it's every new release...every Cafe has to be
blasting the new Massive Attack album...every commercial has
to play it..every two bit jingle writing hack has to ape
it...until the mere mention of the band makes you go
aargh..with this one it will be especially sad..because
Massive Attack are doing some nice glitchy bits in there
from what I have heard so far...

you know, mainstream can be good... it's the music that
matters, not how many people listen to it... some people's
attitudes about popular music, how it all sucks, is just
close minded...

ok, well you already responded to the points I made...
still, some people are close minded to mainstream music...
just because something is popular doesn't mean it sucks...

lol, that sounds pretty cool actually :-p

But i can see how it could get annoying after a while. I
think MA get heavily promoted all over the world, but what
you're describing sounds a bit extreme.

No, i prefer the flamenco ;-)
Say it's Saturday night in Spain. They go out dancing. You
think they do the flamenco?

JERRY: "I would think.

So you could call a woman for a date, ask her if she's free
for Dinner and a flamenco?

JERRY: You don't flamenco on the first date!

Boy, I wish the flamenco was popular here.

JERRY: Yeah? Would you do it?

Yes, I think I would.
