essential floyd, imo
The Wall
Animals
Wish You Were Here
DSOTM
Piper at the Gates...

rest of the catalogue is anywhere from bad to good, but the
aforementioned works are just amazing.

The run from DSOTM to The Wall is one of rock's great
dynasties... but they have so much great stuff before it,
too... but... not after... just dinosaur rock after the
Wall.

I wish Barrett could have stayed sane. They had so much more
personality with that guy... but I guess he was better off
by himself, I like his solo work better than Piper. And they
were better off without him.

Aww don't do it get - The Madcap Laughs instead, then
Barrett then Opel

saucerfull of secrets
piper at the gates of dawn
echos
animals

and forget about the rest
too much hype for no good reason

"and forget about the rest
too much hype for no good reason"
LOL ok what the hell are you talking about?

and why has no one mentioned MEDDLE?!?!?!

its amazing!!! a unique high point between their psychodelic
beginings and their... well, their later stuff

it has on it 3 of my favourite songs from floyd..

Pillow of Clouds
Fearless
and, of course, the amazing 23 minute Echoes!

these 3 alone make it far better than the pompous cynical
rantings of Animals, and other later stuff too
IMO

btw, Echoes has lots of great songs on it but you'd be
missing out on a LOT imo by not hearing the albums as
wholes, since pink floyd is sort of a 'concept album' band

yeah, don't get Echoes... Pink Floyd has always been an
album band... echoes is a dumb idea with a band like this...
I'd say get The Wall, it's an epic masterpiece... that, or
Meddle, Wish You Were Here, etc... Meddle mainly for the
song Echoes which itself is brilliant... but the compilation
cd Echoes ain't such a brilliant idea in my mind...

yeah, I love fearless... oh my... that cd is excellent...
funny thing is, a friend of mine burnt that for me a few
years ago (I don't have the original) and he put a bunch of
disco songs on the end of it as a joke... kind of weird
combo there... :)

I think echoes is a good comp even though they are an album
band, I hate the wall though, if you want to hear more
commercial shit get dark side. Meddle is the album to get
for sure though.

Right biatches,listen up.

I got Echoes.Reason why:

Echoes has different songs from all the albums.I listen to
the songs I like, then I but the albums which contain those
particular songs.

I've only listened to the first 4 tracks,I quite liked
another brick in the wall (part 2).Bit commercial though
that song.

I'll get back to you guys on what album i'm gonna get.
