I like Blood Sugar Sex Magic and a couple of other tunes. I
love Give it away is a dancefloor classic.

You cant compare RHCP with Britney or Nsync, Dude. The
Peppers conqured new musical area with their music, so their
popularity is alright. In contradiction to Brit they make
proper music for 10+ years now. Shes just a media doll to
make money with and she will be gone 1-2 years.

Just yesterday I went out and they played it. I always go
nuts then, the backward guitars an on the point beat just
grooves to the max. You dont know what youre missing.
Whats a dancefloor classic for you ?

Me neither but Im not narrow minded and a good tune is good
tune no matter what scene likes it. Id really like to go out
to this music but there is no club in town that plays any of
it :..(

for me the earlier the better..that's when they still had
balls..though wrapped in socks they may be...

Mothers Milk may be a good compromise between the earlier
and later stuff..It's got Higher Ground..my favourite
track..and a cover of Hendrix's Fire as well..

Blood Sugar Sex Magic i would say but its a little bit
played out IMO. One hot minute is cool as well but a little
melodramatic.

An awful band. A joke band. Never to be taken seriously. Set
the trend for all those god-awful nu-metal bands.
Cringeworthy funk metal. Sets my teeth on edge every time
kleidis tryies to do one his raps. NEVER LIKE MUSIC PLAYED

I really dislike Anthony's singing and lyrics on most of the
songs. But i still listen to RHCP alot, because the
songs
are great. John Frusciante is a fantastic
guitarplayer! I'm convinced he wrote the last album almost
entirely by himself :-p

"(i though to record only water for ten days its pretty
good)
"

i still haven't heard that one :-(
When it was just released lots of stores has stocked
loads of that album, and i felt sure it would be
available for half price or less in no time... but it's been
awhile since the release now, and it's still not avaiable
cheap anywhere ;-)
I think i might have to pay the full price for it.

I've only got "Niandra LaDes and Usually Just A
T-Shirt
" which continues to amaze me. What sounded like
an incoherent, crazy mess the first time i listened, has
become one of my favourite albums of all time! There is so
much beauty to be found in there!

First time i listened i was also disgusted by his singing,
but even that has grown on me :-) I like that solo-album
even better than the RHCP-stuff! RHCP are like watered-down
Frusciante ;-) (but still great)

i see it this way
rhcp are more performers, while frusicante is a musician by
soul...

yeah, i can agree with that. I can't help but wonder what
wonderful music could have been created if frusciante had
joined another (better) band... but as it is i'm happy with
the RHCP. They are definitly easier to listen to than the
solo-stuff. I have to be in the right mood to listen to
that.

well, i still prefer blood sugar over any frusicante
release
and also i think (this will sound terrible) frusicante is a
bit slow (perhaps drugs did that to him) to take a major
part in any band
but, looking forward to his next release...

hehe, i know what you mean ;-)
I have seen an interview with him during his "dark years"
(when he left the chili peppers and was a total
heroine-addict)... and it was really weird. He kept saying
crazy stuff like "i can prove that 0 is bigger than 7" or
(when asked where he lived these days) "well i have this
house, but then there's also the house inisde the mirror"...
and constantly contradicting himself etc.... a very strange
man. I don't think anyone would have been able to hear his
music if the rhcp hadn't taken him by the hand.

I hate "give it away" so much... it almost ruins that entire
album for me. But then again it also has "under the bridge",
which is one of my favourites. Overal i really like the
album, but i prefer frusciante's solo-album.

He did a show hear in holland a couple of months (years)
ago. But it was sold out in less then two hours!! :-o

Needless to say i was too late and wasn't able to buy a
ticket :-(

Supposedly he played for 2 hours, and afterwards just
stepped into the crowd and talked to all his fans for
another 2 hours... jesus, i would have loved to have been
there! But i really didn't expect him to sell out so quickly
(hell, i didn't even think he'd sell out at all :-)).

I used to have two vcr's... but sadly one of them is broken
now for a long time :-( Otherwise i would have made you a
copy of the interview. It was indeed very funny :-p
(he also played lots of songs, also the first song he ever
wrote (when he was 6!), and a cover of the rolling stones
"angie", where he sang "anthony" instead of angie ;-)). But
as it is, i can't make copies of videotapes anymore.

They're a great band, one of my favs, seen em twice live.
They've gone through major turmoil in their careers, and
have withstood the test of time (almost 20 years now!).
Frusciante is an amazing guitar player and Flea is one of
the greatest bass players of all time.

All their albums are good, BSSM is a classic, I'de say get
that one first.

yeah, I know p-funk, they were the innovators of a whole new
branch o funk, so it's difficult to say that anyone ripped
them off. Flea's bass style is greatly influenced by slap
and funk, and their early stuff like Mother's Milk definetly
had a little p-funk influence to it, but it wasn't the same.
They put their own flavor too it, and each album since has
had somewhat of a different style, but their roots are
definetly in funk rock.

no the chillis ripped their style from
best releases parliament - choclate city and funkenteleky
vs the placebo syndrome - funkadelic - funkadelic
also cosmic slop and free your mind and your ass will follow
- but you're better off getting a best of comp

that's your opinion... I disagree, you can't say that
anything with similiar styles are rip-offs of each other,
especially in this case (I've heard them both, and there are
many differences).
