As much as I love Japanese things I only seem to have seen one Kurosawa film, Stray Dog, which I though was OK. I can see how that one film alone has influenced quite a few others.

the other recent japanese film I saw was Uzumak (spiral). I cant decide what I think of it, it was cool at times but overly corny other times.
other non-japanese films I saw recently were: -Naqoyqatsi(good but I expected different) also I havent seen all of koyaanisqatsi or any of powaqatsi
-Adaptation(not as good as being john malkovich, decent none the less)
-American Psycho(coulda been better) -Amelie(magical) -Gaza Strip (excellent, really gives a view to the situation between israel and palestine)

I've seen Seven Samurai, Yojimbo, Rashomon and (i think) Sanjuro. I like his style. Old skool action flicks. I like the song the kids sing in Yojimbo! Can't remember which one "Last Man Standing" with Bruce Willis is a remake of.

I was probably being a little unfair with "action films". There is a fair bit of action in the films I've seen, but he builds real drama aswell, with great cinamatography.

Throne of Blood is excellent and The Hidden Fortress is the one that inspired George Lucas for Star Wars.

Yojimbo is probably my favorite. Can a human being possibly get any cooler than Toshiro Mifune? I seriously doubt it.
It also has one of the coolest musical themes in history.
