and she wanks and dies

actually its the only scary shot in the whole movie
and the funniest thing is that you somehow expect something
shocking to come up
but still i was pretty shocked :)

scariest.

the funniest part about that david lynch thing is: i DO get
his movies, and i DO enjoy them, and he probably alot more
sane & together than whoever wrote that little diatribe...
when's the last time HE made a movie???

plus, look at your kubrick avatar... his movies are just as
abstract, if not MORE so just because of how COMPLETELY NUTS
and extreme it must've seemed in the 60's.

people who don't know what they're talking about (as this
person obviously does NOT) should just stick to silence, at
least then no one KNOWS how idiotic you sound.

this is bull shit
all his movies are the same
they dont make sense
they are all the same
lost highway was the same as MD
if you are trying to figuer out the story or the messagfe in
the movies here it is:

HE IS MAKING FUN OF ALL OF US
HE IS MAKING MONEY OUT OF ALL OF US

I didn't understand mullholland drive at all... same with
lost highway. And yet i did actually enjoy them :-)

The thing it that you keep thinking about it. It's not just
random nonsense, somehow when i'm watching those movies i
get the feeling he is trying to say something
important. Some of those scenes are just etched in my memory
forever... it's like having a dream.

hahahahaha, i feel SO horribly sorry for those of you who
are mad because you don't get it... WOW, and you people
listen to autechre and squarepusher? i find it hard to
believe that you grasp them, either. his movies make perfect
snese, and if i felt like taking 3 or 4 hours to explain
everything in every single one, i would, but somehow i don't
think it would do a bit of good... those of you who still
enjoyed it even thought you didn't get it, kudos for being
able to appreciate his art, even still... i guess to the
majority of the nay sayers, i say: just because you can't
wrap your minds around it, don't be mad at him for making it
or us for liking it.

offline tibbar from harrisburg, pa (United States) on 2003-02-18 14:12 [#00560332]

it was her delusion of innocence... she gives her identity
and her future over to rita (hence the hair and the sex
scene, and why betty's life turns out crap)... the blue box
is basically a representation of a pandora's box, something
that spirals out of control once opened.

offline danbrusca from Derbyshire (United Kingdom) on 2003-02-18 14:59 [#00560402]

The good thing about Lynch movies *is* that they make you
think. Even when someone explains them you still feel like
there's more to them. They hint at mysteries beyond what's
on the screen.

In a way, I guess they only become fully realised works when
combined with the imagination of the viewer. Half the
attraction of a Lynch movie is what he doesn't explain and
we have to try and fill in.

I want to see it; I adore David Lynch.

And also, Ive read the back of the box a hundred times and
my eye is always drawn to the same line in one of the
reviews: "With colors that pop like a whores lipgloss!"
...wwooaahhh!!!!!!!!

I must see that. :)

all david lynch works pay off from repeat viewings, like
anything difficult and challenging. this is one of my
favorite movies. does anyone notice the repeating of
tapping/knocking in the film? knocks on the door wake her
up, hitting herself when getting off, tapping the glass when
adam makes an announcement, the pounding you can hear before
adam smashes the car window in.

what fun is life if you always "get it." you give yourselves
too much credit, let a movie humble your mind for a few
minutes.

well the wonderful score makes up for alot of it. The rest
looks too much like twin peaks revisited really. Therefor
I'd rather watch the season one DVD boxset.
Can't wait for season two of twin peaks in a nice DVD
boxset.
