for example:

track 1 cd1:

I can notice a big reverb that dosnt let me pump up the
volume too much... is this normal?

I too have noticed this,I thought it was 'coz I don't take
care of my cds.
Must be normal then......

example 2:

cd1 track 2

min: 5' 02'' to 5' 07''
little something I cant describe, but that goes from one
speaker to the other

dunno... the sound is just fine with me!

(i especially like the metallic ??? in [white blur I], it
sounds so real, like the instrument is just behind you!)

Is it an analogue recording or digital,I know alot of the
old stuff is obviously analogue.

but can you pump up the volume?
cos when I do it is annoying cos of the too much reverb

the reverb distorts the sound?

its like if my speaker couldnt handle the sound

i've noticed this as well, although the effect is lessened
on good stereo systems.
actually, the treble seems too high on some tracks if turned
up loud, and yeah, the reverb can be kind of harsh. only
solution is to play it on a really good system or
headphones.

either you play this cd at really high volume or you have a
bad copy
i tryed it out at pretty high volume and it seems to be
working normal
could also be just intentional thing...
i don't know :)

i think i listened once, and it sounds like its distorted
because its been recorded at too high a level. Clipping, or
whatever people like to call it.

oh well, might listen to it when i go to bed. night....

yeah, that one is working pretty good
but it is an old material, so its not perfect
i can play it pretty loud though, and it sounds ok i guess

offline tolstoyed from the ocean on 2003-02-16 18:09 [#00557665]

actually at certain loudness i can hear little reverb, but
when i play it a bit louder i cant hear it anymore
weird :)

perhaps the tone is at a frquency thats resonating with your
speakers. try it on a different hifi and see if its
different. (at the right frequency the body of your speakers
starts vibrating audibly) The first track off amnesiac does
this to my little portable cd player.

It's the frequency resonance. He's right.

song/sounds

not the resonance thingy, the clipping disto, it comes a lot
when there is sweeping effects from the various
filters,phasers,flangers,reverbs,etc... culminating, i find
it really pleasing and always thought he did it on purpose
cos it ousnds right...
