I found something weird and wonderful today in a second hand record shop in Tokyo... a video box set for Artificial Intelligence II. It has a 40 minute animation set to tracks from the record, a 2 cd set, with two extra tracks that are not on the vinyl edition (including a hidden track by Scanner). ALso a long booklet in Japanese and English.
The animation is blinding - looks really dated and old skool - just the kind of thing that was state of the art in 94 but is a bit tired now... Much like the covers of both AI records...
Has anyone seen this box before? I have never seen it in Britain and this is the first time I have seen it here... Anyone know anything about it?
I also found the three 10 inch box set of BassCadet remixes by Autechre. Both box sets and second hand squarepusher cd only set me back 60 squids! Happy day indeed - it may be cold and grey and shit in TOkyo today, but I am pretty pleased with what I found...

I know - often Japanese stores get values really fucked up... all this stuff was bargains but they were trying to sell some other dub and reggae stuff that you can buy cheaper new at the Tower Records down the street. What the fuck?

Yeah I wonder if it is a Japan only release - looking at the credits and stuff in the booklet, all the people thanked for putting it together are Japanese... I dont know.
Anyway, the video fucking rules! It is so dated and cheezy - it looks like the Chart Show in Britain circa 1993. My favourite moment - while Polygon Window is playing there is a silvery robot kind of guy smoking a joint while a purple pyschadelic mosquito flies into the room where the silver robot is "chilling" and bites him over and over and over again... Total Madness!
To think this must have looked state of the art ten years ago - after Jurassic Park, Toy Story, Star Wars etc all that kind of animation looks so lame now...
