**************************
Who would have guessed it would start in Sheffield?
The rusting Steel City, abandonned by Warp, its credibility wrecked by the National Centre Of Popular Music and a live music circuit drowning in its own lack of ambition.
Last years Dustpunk was an unprecedented success. A collection of bands, laptop kids, DJs and video manglers - all finding their feet - came together to try and combine their different methods of entertaining people into a night of noise, colours and dancing.
A year later, with album releases, eps, nationwide tours, radio 1 airplay and monthly nites around Sheffield behind them, 65daysofstatic, Digitonal, Feedle and Medlo are stumbling back into the live arena together for Dustpunk2. They have brought with them the finest guitar band in these dark, post-At the Drive-in days rock music is trapped in, in the shape of First Day Back, and the unpredictable, and probably quite dangerous Autofire with their strange, 200bpm gabba machinery.
Every city needs an underground. And every movement needs to have that first show that people swear they were at.
This isn't a big idea. This isn't exclusive. You don't need trendy trainers or a record bag.
We want everyone. Just come and dance.
live: 65daysofstatic [glitchpunk guitar kids] digitonal [beats and breaks and orchestral melodrama] feedle [psychedelic noisy sick death popcore] first day back [the future of punk rock] djs: autofire [gabba kings] vjs: medlo [queens of pixel-seduction]
Limited edition cds with tracks on by all the artists playing are available to those who arrive early enough, or who buy advance tickets from Fuse @ the Forum, Sheffield.
Saturday 22nd February. The Boardwalk, Snig Hill, Sheffield. 8pm-1am. £3.

when I lived is sheffield a few years ago it was a pretty depressing place, the music scene was very stagnant, the same old shit peddled by guitar bands with little imagination or originaliy. It needed a kick up the arse and i'm glad this is happening. good on ya dtnl! :)
