Hello. Please would someone recommend a piece of freeware,
if such a thing exists, that can be used to remove hiss from
a wav file. Or, can this be accomplished with the program
Reason v2 in some way? Thanks.

There's a number of good noise removal programs out there
that I use. One of the best ones I've used oddly enough is
built in to Goldwave. Goldwave is shareware but not hard to
find a *coughcrackcough* It requires a bit of
practice, and it's not appropriate for all jobs, but when it
is, it's great.

An excellent suite of vinyl/tape cleanup tools is the Waves
Restoration plugins. Not free by a long way though, but very
good, especially the x-crackle for removing vinyl noise.

Or you could try p2p proggies for full versions :)

cooledit's noise removal capabilities are excellent and very
programmable, use it for vynils, tapes, old recordings,
noisy mics, etc...
