Time to reach out to the xltronic board for advice (
preferably from women here). I'm 18, I've been going out
with this girl for 3 weeks now, and I'm really not
interested in her really anymore and I want to break it off.
Problem, valentines day is friday and I really dont want to
be an asshole about this so....what should i do?

You dont want to break up with her cause its Valentines day?
thats bullshit, its just a day you should do it before she
starts getting real feelings about you

bit of a tough situation...I would suggest not doing it on
Valentines Day as you would get a pretty bad reaction so as
soon as possible would be for the best...so there is no
misunderstanding on your part that it would be leading to a
relationship...

well, i'm a guy, and being a guy i should probably say
something like "JUST HANG IN THERE, SHE'LL TOTALLY DO YOU ON
VALENTINES DAY"but that would be shitty. Breaking up is
harder when you've had sex with some one, because you've
shared yourself with them.

anyways... i'd almost say wait till after, but it would be
leading her on, and you definately don't want to do that.
why do you want to break up with her? is it something big or
small?

I mean like i still like her but.....

#1 I dont even want a gf now, i dont know why i asked her
out

#2 she thinks my music is scary and my ideas trivial

'nuff said. Im actually talking to her on aim now, and im
saying how dumb valentines day is and she replyed "um ok"
....i think i should just do it here and now

Yeah, im beating around the bush on aim with her right
now.....i'm gona draw it out and make it sound like we're
completely different people so she thinks it's a good idea
to break it off, this is a good idea. *pats self on back*
thanks roygbivcore and others

I suggest that you... DONT break up with her online. Or on
the phone. Do it in person--its more sincere. You will be
less of a coward. Ive had someone break up with me over the
phone--it sucks.

obviously this girl is not on the same page as you... you
are probably correct in thinking that this isn't going to
work out... if you're in 2 different worlds, it's probably
going to reflect in bad goings on within a relationship.

I suggest you try to find good things in your relationship.
Why not explain to her your feelings? She's probably a very
understanding person.

i agree, do it in person, don't be spineless about it... do
you want a friendship with this girl at all? i have to
ask.... or are you just wanting nothing at all from this? i
DO whole-heartedly agree, from my own bad personal
experience with it, the phone break-up sucks bigtime!

Maybe since you dont want a girlfriend now, tell her that
you want to remain friends, but you arent ready for a
girlfriend at the moment. Maybe if you are friends and you
can open her up a bit more to your music/ideas, then you can
ask her out again soemtime when you do actually want to be
with someone. :)
