they are negative melodies. the more you try to hear them
the further away you get.

relax. let the melodies hear you..

Its like confield only less annoying and repetetive. I
noticed that they are still using VERY similar drum/rythm
sounds as confield.

I've not find yet a melody beautiful as Piano in the
background of track1 (VI Scose Poise in Confield). Anyway I
continue to check.

it's much more accessible and melodic than their latest
work, if Hans Wrath is their latest.

"they are negative melodies. the more you try to hear them

Yeah, I know what you're getting at-but that's taking
Autechre a litte TOO far, no? I just see them as people who
make interesting music-nothing more or less.

6ie.cr has a noticeable melody
p.:ntil does too
so does reniform puls

the melody in 6ie.cr doesnt start until the middle of the
track though.

i cannot understand how anyone could reduce something
complex like a new AE-album to a detail like MELODY. you
should better check out the new MADONNA album if it comes to
buying a record in april.

you can't ask autechre to be what you want them to be.
maybe they don't want it to be all melodic boards of canada
like. I mean they are much more adventurous than that. I
read once that they "just want to make something new" thats
always their mentality when creating. Not "we wanted to
take some neet sounds and then make it all melodic so that
our fans like it"

and what the hell is a negative melody? I don't think that
is a technical term at all, I mean it means nothing. Sure
some of it is pretty minimal and hard to grasp but what is
negative about it? I mean if it was an invertion(which would
be the negative like a photograph) it would still be just as
audible... I don't get it.

IV VV IV VV VIII is getting nicer the more I listen to
it...very nice ending with phat sounding random
fucked-upness

I tried to dance to it, but my mom didn't like what she saw

You're right, it's not a technical term. It was really just
a passive comment. I didn't intend for it to have so much
weight.

I could explain it better I guess, I'm just too lazy. It
makes since to me though and thats all that matters.

Melody=cheese? eh?

Anyway, if it's anything like Confield, I'll love it. If
it's like ep7 or Lp5, I'll love it less so. Whatever-I hope
it surprises and freaks me out and makes me feel like I'm on
an alien planet.

It?s more about harmonies and chords than straight melodies
like the main lead in "Corc" (from LP5).

What I?ve heard so far it?s A LOT BETTER than confield imo,
just because of the more "song-like" structures - it?s not
just a messy blur with noise-beats like confield....

mm... I?m a bit curious - WHO would have liked Confield if
it was done by someone totally unknown? I think many raises
things to the sky, and called the creators of a certain
thing for geniouses (sorry for the spelling) - just because
they know who have done it...

are you saying that ppl here are listening to confield just
because it was made by autechre?
thats totaly nonsense-i'd never listen to music that i
wouldnt like, i just cant stand the music i dislike, no
matter who's the author

there's no way to really know this ofcourse.. lets look at
it this way - if confield had been brought out as being made
by AFX, I think my ears would've dropped off because of
utter amazement.

ae - still amazed, but keeping my ears.

some unknown - still amazed, and yes, the ears are still
there.

still - know way to know this for sure.

well, the bottomline was I would still be amazed. so I
wouldn't have liked it less, if it hadn't had ae's name
stamped on it.

The post about reducing Autechre to "a detail like melody"
strikes me as being very silly. Melody has been prevailent
throughout Autechre's work including Confield.

Uhm no melodies???, we have two different albums I can
tell..Draft 7.30 is much more melodic than Confield (both
albums are dope!!).

My album starts with a track thats like 6min and 40 sec or
something like that and it has beautiful melodies from 4 min
into the track (its builds nicely), track 2 has great
melodies all over it, track 3 melodies fo sure, track 4 yeah
if u listen closely, its a lot of noise tho, track 5 oh NICE
NICE melodies etc etc etc etc etc etc
