yeah that was a cool statement. i have to say though, the
americans must be feeling the entire world is against them.
i heard americans are discouraged to travel to europe.
that's ridiculous. and a shame :)

Nelson Mandela is the man... I have so much respect for
him... when I heard about what he said I was like "Sweet!!"

I agree with him.

but bringing race into it is a bit of a stretch. no need to
pull that card now. it's too petty in contrast with what's
going on now

you forget Tony Blair is backing Bush all the way, it's NOT
all americans.......too bad he doesn't show some backbone as
well!!!

eh? yes blair is acting a bit silly as well, that's
certainly true. but britons generally don't give a toss
about what other europeans think about them ;) btw, i was
kinda defending americans there, hehe :D

i don't really know if it's 'most' but i know that a lot of
people who know his name, may or may not know that he was an
african leader, or know anything about him. of course i'm
only twenty years old.

without the US Mandela would still be in some prison and
south africa would be under apartheid, maybe he should
rethink his words

thats not true, the schools praise him for the great leader
he is was/is.. if any American doesn't know who he is there
something wrong with them or they are really young

well do make a comment thats its about taking control of oil
is not 100 % true, he couldve express his anti war feelings
in a more subtle way like " im against it" in stead he put
it in a negative way..

he said it because someone big had to say it. the rest of
the world is too cowardly to do it yet they do think it.
it's a shame it didn't get more media attention...

well I think the matter well past the time for subtlety dont
you think?..Bush is being farfrom subtle about his
intentions of swarming the country with swarms upon swarms
of troops being poured into the region daily..

sheesh

and why would Mandela be rotting in a prison cell if it
wasnt for Americans?

I think you are under estimating the role of the entire
worlds protestors and demonstrators in the Anti-aparthied
movement..it was a global effort...

btw..none of the Mandela's statements were Anti-American per
say..he had guts to name the problem..BUSH..which very few
other people of prominance are yet to do...

critized a government mostly responsible that has murdered
500,000+ people in Iraq?

well I tell you I was pretty felt up with Clinton when
American helicopters and miltary invaded Auckland for his
visit distrubing the peace and blocking off our peaceful,
busy city for a visit...it certainly was an invasion...

in addition to that our city was cleaned up was cleaned up
especially...shiny new rubbish bins...freshly painted
roads...homeless banished from the inner city...cordoned off
sections of road...miltarymen running around going
hup.hup..hup..scary man :P

Peter Gabriel too (if you have not heard it)

thanks red.

bonk, i didn't catch the anti-american tone in mandela's
words, did i miss something? i thought everything he said
was on point and i felt that none of it was directed at me,
an american.

i thought you probably had heard of him!

what happened to him is hard to believe in these 'modern'
times. we should learn about people like him in history
class, but i don't see it happening anytime soon.

he fought the system and lost his life, but his death DID
make a difference.
