my problematic music purchasing :(

once in my life i have extra cash. i am in desperate need
ofr new music.

....
can't order anything abroad (no credit card available, no
online shop accepts method i could use).

record shops suck. i never find the stuff i want there.

i have no other choice than to order cds from one online
store that sends with check :( no vinyl :(( why must life be
so hard?

anyways heres my latest order:
Björk - Vespertine
Blur - Best Of
Biosphere - Shenzou
Radiohead - Amnesiac

(why so many good artist start with a or b?!)

am i the only one who finds music buying almost impossible?

Get "13" if you like blur, as well as their self titled
album.

I was very pleased with D'arcangelo's "Broken Toys Corner"
and I'm surprised that it is rarely spoken about on this
board.

I'd be dead without a credit card. The shops here have
practically no good electronic or ambient music.

Do you have a bank account? Then you could at least buy
stuff from ebay and half.com with paypal.

yeah, it's tough sometimes for me when I go into the record
store with intentions to buy. So many good albums that I
want to get, it's usually a pretty difficult decision unless
I alread know exactly what I want.

ahh you speak the truth young padawan. Being a perther,
(perth being the only major city on the west side of
australia) my selection is hugely limited, i have yet to
find a single shop having everything i'm looking for.

There are like 3 shops in the city that i know of that sell
anything like what i want, and all 3 are big commercial
ones. therefore i have major trouble finding anything
remotely near my standard.

older than 16.

i know things are tough for you people abroad, but you
americans have no excuse. as old as you are it's downright
embarassing if you don't have a bank account by now (what're
you thinking?). and if you have a bank account, most banks
give debit cards for free. they double as credit cards, like
my visa debit card, meaning you can easily order things
online. there are a plethora of independent online stores
that specialize on the sort of music this web site is about,
and there are tons of corporate sites that offer absolutely
free shipping (my favorite is bn.com cos they have free
shipping, the best prices, a great selection, AND i get
additional discounts).

if you dont find bjork, blur or radiohead where you live,
yes you can say thats hard, but there for me its the same
with aphex autechre squarepusher, etc, if they have the
artist, they just have one or two albums.. and the most easy
to find, so i have to order on the net with cheques too :(
but its great theyve got everything

name, title at your local record store. Cant they order it

Vespertine is amazing, so is amnesiac (don't know the other
two and -might i add- how the hell is it possible you
forgot you already have Amnesiac?! :-p)

But finding records can be hard... (tomorrow i'm going all
the way to belgium to buy a cd... everyone thinks i'm crazy
to do so much effort for just a cd, hehe ;-)) i'm thinking
more and more of getting a creditcard. I'll have to find out
how much exactly it'll cost me.

Anyway, i found that sometimes if you write these people
(for instance the warp-site) a nice letter/e-mail explaining
your problem of not having a creditcard. Sometimes, if the
right person reads it :-) You'll get lucky and they'll allow
you to just send over some cash or work something out
otherwise. I have managed to order some books and cd's in
this fashion.

surrounded > im a stoner, i forget alot

i bet THOSE records would have been in the shop, excluding
maybe biosphere. there is only one record shop in whichs
ordering abilities i count and thats in my old home town.

and as for that debit card thingy, i used to have this card
called visa electron. maybe its the same? i have never heard
it being used in a way like this.

try it if you still have it. i know in america debit cards
can be used just like credit cards 99% of the time (they're
usually even sponsored by companies like visa, which is what
mine is).

yeah, it was basically a card that could be used in shops to
pay but i took the money directly from my account. it also
could be used abroad. i need to dig it up then perhaps.
