I thought it was odd that it was only 1 CD as well. The 23
tracks that we know about add up to around 2'16" of playing
time.

To fit that all on one CD would take some serious chopping.
I hope it's a typo and it's a 2 disc set.

i found it on slsk divided up into 2 discs

Yes, it has to be a typo, there's no way there would be that
much chopping ...

i'm an avid Aphex Twin fan, i think i can say...i have about
9 of his CD's, + two videos.

and i haven't heard ANY of these remixes. except the tracks
from 'further down the spiral, this is all new material to
me.

my question: am i in for a treat?

9 of his CD's, + two videos.

this is a nice collection... but many people here have more
than 50 afx releases...

mine is just of:

19 original cds
13 cdr (burnt from mp3) albums or eps

Yes, whether this is a contract-ender or not (didn't people
say the same thing about Drukqs) there are some real gems in
the remixes.

Some disappointing left-outs though! Among them:
Klaus Schulze - Surface Patterns
Front Line Assembly - Provision
Beck - Devil's Haircut (richard's hairpiece mix)

he never remixed FLA. FLA sample him all the time, but i
doubt rdj is happy about it (it's not exactly groundbreaking
stuff), much less a fan enough to remix them.

come oon.. the beck remix definately could have replaced
that "at the heart of it all" shit... I think that's one of
his best remixes

Someone posted an interview here ... it said that Warp
couldn't get the rights from Geffen for that Beck remix.

I don't really like that remix anyway, but still it would
have been nice to have a more complete set.

if it were me i'd have removed the 2 tracks he did for nin.
not only do i have a selfish, whiny reason in that i already
own further down the spiral (as should you all, it's great),
but for the main reason that they're not even remixes:
they're old tracks. "at the heart of it all" is a different
version of "ventolin", and the other is just another track
presumably from the SAW2 and ICBYD sessions.

i'd also remove We have arrived (Aphex Twin QQT mix) -
Mescalinium
United
because it's on classics, an aphex album that is
in print in the UK and the US. redundant.

i'd also remove 19. Remix - AFX, presuming that it's
one of the tracks from 2 remixes by afx. again, it's highly
redundant and it makes people who plonked down $5-15 for the
MEN1 single feel rippd off. and if they're going to include
it, why wouldn't they name it?

now, the peel session-broadcast remix of "radiator" and the
"windowlicker" remix are a nice touch. but there're quite a
few other remixes that rdj didn't include, and it's hard to
believe that the masters for the beck single were destroyed
(he's a very well known artist on a major label). whatever
could be salvaged should've been included, PLUS i'd like to
hear the lemonheads and craig david remixes if they exist.

the windowlicker remix is nothing compared to the original..
it's so simplified and stripped down.. and there's a fucking
COWBELLLL in it .. I hope he's not following rupert parkes
on the "solaris" route..

I actually REALLY like 'the beauty of being numb'.. it
doesnt sound like most of the stuff he's done.. but I think
at the heart of it all is just droning and awful

if he had synchronized the vocals on the beck remix a little
better it would have been an 11/10.. it has such great
melodies and drum patterns

if theres a track off 2 remixes..

score to the sum of all fears or something

I think the CD should be playable in conventional stereos
but come enhanced and include 192k mp3s of all his remixes
that they can get ahold of--that way the purchasers could
(without any legal worries) make their own favorite remix
CDs of his. Make sense?

um..I like all his NIN remixes..the Devil's Haircut remix is
about the only RDJ track I despise...

the nails ones rock--but I think the beck remix is neat
'cause I really think the lyrics he used match his style
well :D

what are those NIN remixes of tho? it seems like 'further
down the spiral' just happened to randomly include a track
from aphex twin. the second one seemed to be a little more
of a collaborative effort.. however what was being remixed
on those tracks?

offline Spookyluke from United States on 2003-01-28 20:09 [#00532264]

the second one has Mr. Self Destruct noises provided by
trent reznor. :)

the first one is an aphex track.
