I happen to like the skins that resemble high-end stereo
equipement. I think there was one called "Product of
Desire" which was cool. I don't use winamp anymore, though.
iTunes baby!

blauplunkt or whatever they're called.

At the moment i'm rocking the nintendo game&watch style one.

Here's my favorite. Simple and kinda retro. I also
use it in Linux with XMMS.

Not dark. Not hard to read. Doesn't suck.

offline roygbivcore from Joyrex.com, of course! on 2003-01-26 18:39 [#00529400]

i had one for a mac mp3 player called audion. it was in the
shape of a nintendo controller... left=rewind, right=fast
forward, b=stop, a=play, i think start and select were
different drop down menus...

i miss it. if it didn't have to be reinstalled every 15 days
(a shareware thing) i would've kept it.

Titanium from xanthic.net
2advanced off the website using the same name
and a bunch of stuff off customize.org, they're great for
winamp skins. Plus they have some dig. art sites linked with
some killer skins too. I have tons, myself.

When somebody sets out to make a skin based on an artist or
movie or something rather than just going for something
stylish or artsy, 9 times out of 10, it sucks immense
amounts of backside (witness all the crap Aphex skins on
Winamp.com! Blech!), but I like this Beatles one.

the skin over at www.2advanced.com Of course, since they do

Real Player one which is no where near as exciting or cool
as Winamp.

I haven't found a truly satisfying skin - currently, I use
either a Doneky Kong skin or a Millenium Falcon skin.

cooler.

I can say two things about winamp3 ...the first is profanity
so evil that it can't be pronounced or written, and would
destroy the whole Internet if it did. The second is: why the
fucking shit have they removed the jump-to-file function and
what the fuck is up with those ridiculous
playlist-options!!!! *arrrrggh*

wow...you obviously used THAT feature a lot. Well, I never
did, so I don't even its absence.

it takes more system-resources too, and the
visualitation-plugins that rule (like MilkDrop and
AcidSpunk) only works with 2.x. It also is way too
over-featured and to say the least, overrated. Normally i'm
that kinda guy that ALWAYS uses the newest version because I
know all new versions have good updates, but this is a
ripoff. And you can guess that the winamp-folks new that
since they have set up two sites - one for each version.

i'm curious......has anyone MADE their own WINAMP
skin......cos i wanna

i have a lot of great ideas......but i really like the
spacey ones.....with the planetoids and stars and
lightning......and stuff

anyway......has anyone made one, and is it labor intensive,
or can you do it pretty quickly???
