Hey mates, you had reason... the album "SAKURA" by SUSUMU
YOKOTA is really a masterpiece. Thanks for your advice.

No it is better than a masterpiece...

Even Richard would have problems pulling off a record all
about flowers (which is what Sakura means in Japanese as I
am sure you knew)...

Incredible incredible record...

Also recomend you check out "Image 1983-1998" by same guy..
blinding...

sure you knew)...
"

as a matter of fact i didn't :-) Thanks for the
translation.

I also know kodomotachi means "children"... but what about
the other tracktitles??

Yes Kodomo means child and -tachi indicates the plural...

Other titles I will translate you for tomorrow if you really
care... Do you?

I am too drunk and tired now - I just got home at 1.15 am
Japanese time...

I have to disagree with you there glass_eater- Japenese has
no beauty at all when spoken - looks nice when written (in
Japanese characters) but probably the most stupid vague and
imprecise to express yourself...

ridiculous prices (like Japanese grown rice - $20 or
something a bag...)

Glass_eater - Yeah the temples gardens shrines etc here are
really amazing but you are right the quality of life IN
Japan is REALLY REALLY SHIT - no space no light not enough
trees not enough time off work

Danbrusca dont really understand your comment - you are
correct there are a lot of honorifics and heirachical rules
about language but Japanese is still fucking ugly I
reckon...

girl with a lovely voice...

"Grinning Cat" is amazing.

the thing i like the most about yokota is that he is
releasing lots of music and he doesnt get repetitive, all
his albums are very diversed
his last one "the boy and the tree" is wonderful but it took
me some time to get into, but now im loving it

I only listened to "The Boy and The Tree" once. It was
pretty good. I'm sure I'll like it more with repeated
listens

when i got sakura it wasnt that great to me, as i listened
to it more i started loving it
then when grinning cat came out, i was just shocked of what
this guy is capable of, i loved it at once

To answer the question above, I grew up mainly in London -
where my family still lives. But I have lived in Japan for
the last few years. sorry took me some time to reply - was
quite drunk and passed out in front of computer -

alcohol + internet = bad idea

Danbrusca - you are right Japanese can be nice when spoken
by a girl with a sexy voice... But a lot of Japanese girls
have hightly irritating sqeaky voices and think it is cute
to squalk at each other...

huh, you received it yet, or is it on the way?
anyway i hope you like it, apperantly people here like it,
but since you're very much into autechre you should perhaps
check that "magic thread" album, which is yokotas more like
electronica stuff

sakura is not electronica?

offline tolstoyed from the ocean on 2003-01-24 19:10 [#00527433]
Points: 50073 Status: Moderator

hmm, its more ambient, i guess its electronica but not the
same as warp stuff
i dont know this, could be that ambient is subgenre of
electronica, im really no expert in determing genres
it is electronic music, so i guess its electronica
