HELP HAB!

I am going to burn a cd with my mp3 of hab 1 and 2.

the question is:

shall I delete the 2 seconds time between tracks?

in other way:
in the original releases, do the tracks go together or is
there some silence in between?

My mp3's are fine. No gap, 256kbs.

mine are 320... but nero does put the gap and I want to know
if I have to delete it and if so how

I don't recall any gapless tracks on these records.

offline Duble0Syx from Columbus, OH (United States) on 2003-01-21 12:22 [#00522743]

The gap is just because nero puts one there. I doubt there
was a 2 sec gap on the vinyl. If you ever heard the mp3
that had the 3 sec of the next song at the end it would seem
like there is no gap. So I'd go with no gap. Use some kind
of wave/mp3 editor like soundforge and convert them to waves
if need to do some editing. If you burn them "Disc-at-once"
rather than "track-at-once" you should fine.

highlight the tracks, right click, and set the gap to 0
seconds. that's it :)

offline sine707 from Frankfurt (Germany) on 2003-01-21 12:22 [#00522745]
Points: 1285 Status: Regular

oh, yeah, and use "disc-at-once"

offline Duble0Syx from Columbus, OH (United States) on 2003-01-21 12:22 [#00522746]

Of course theres a bit of silence where one song ends and
the next begins, but "digital silence" so to speak.

Would someone perhaps be kind enough to also make such a CD
for me?

I guess my opinions on MP3 and filesharing are always pretty
clear ;-) But HAB is an exception... since there is no way
(unless you are rich and feel like filling up the wallet of
some ebay-seller) of obtaining the original HAB-releases. I
don't feel like i'd be stealing from richard if i copy an
ultra-rare release that is long sold out anyway.

And almost everytime i come to this board, i hear someone
talking about how HAB contains some of richard's best songs
ever. It's making me very curious!

But the computer i'm working from doesn't belong to me.
(it's my mothers... and she doesn't like it when i download
programs from the internet (like soulseek))... plus i don't
have acces to a cd-burner, so even if i had soulseek i still
wouldn't be able to listen to HAB in the comfort of my own
room.

So now i am begging for the generosity of a fellow
boardmember who might help me out?? :-D
I don't really have any rare idm-stuff to trade you with,
but i will ofcourse pay for the shippingcosts and the
cd-r....

I would be very grateful to you and forever in your debt...
please? Please pretty please with cherries on top? ;-)

If someone is kind enough just reply on the board or drop me
a line at ikbenerik@hotmail.com...

Don't forget that because of limitations in the mp3 format,
you can't make a truly "gapless" CD from a collection of
mp3s.

But Nero does have a nice crossfading feature that comes
pretty close. Reduce the track gap to 0 seconds, turn on
crossfading for 1 frame, and burn disc-at-once. This should
give pretty good results if you have a live album or
continuous mix.

But luckily you don't have to do any of this for HAB.

well the fucking thing happened again SHIT

THIS IS WHAT I GOT:

one track ends and the other starts, stops and then starts
again...

this with every fucking track... another cd to the trash

Actually, there is one program I know that can make a truely
gapless cd from mp3's and wav files. Sonic Foundry's CD
architect. It's ideal for continuos mix cd's. And you can
even add track breaks in a single long mp3 if you want.

rare ep's, why can't richard ;-)

Oh, and you can cut off as much of a track as you want with
it. I'm sure you can dl it off soulseek to try it out.

Yes, you're right - if you want to get your hands dirty and
edit the mp3s. I'm thinking of the average person who just
wants to burn 2 or more mp3s back to back on a cd.

offline xceque on 2003-01-21 12:56 [#00522776]
Points: 5888 Status: Moderator | Show recordbag

Don't just burn the tracks with disc at once and no pregaps
cos mp3s always have a bit of silence at the start after
decoding so you'll get a pop or something a few seconds into
the track even if you reposition the track indices. There
are 256k mp3s that are better quality and that are done
right. If you *really* want proper working 320k mp3s I can
do you some.
(I sincerely hope no-one from Warp records is reading this
plea ... ;)

nacmat: i have the same 320kb/s mp3's u have. i used sound
forge to cut off the beginning of the next song.

If you find the 256kbs ones they are fine. I think I know
where they came from...Eithor way they don't have that bit
the next track at the end.

use winoncd, it converts the mp3 to wav before and
not during the process and you can edit it a little bit
before, i've used it for cutting similar things out.
and it preserves you from encoding/reencoding

definitivamente y 6 vuelve a empezar... me entiendes?
