Hello, I'm checking yer homepage, and I want to read the
reviews ye have there, but it's all written in some weird
language. ^_^

Do ye have the reviews in two versions? One english, and one
in the "weird" language. Heck, I know, it's french. :)

reviews - if i have enough motivation i'll do it! - in
english!

(track by track reviews seemed a good idea to me at first
but for some albums it just isn't adapted...)

Hehe, well, I'm interested in long reviews, and I like that
you have reviewed each track. ^_^

Yer avatar is freaky. It blinks at me in a mysterious way.
^_^

Aphex Twin - ...I Care Because You Do

a quite difficult album to get into, to listen calmly (the
melodies take their time before appearing sometimes!);
depending on your mood and how much you're used to this kind
of music, it can be awesome or boring. take your time to
enjoy it; if you're hesitating whether buying it or not, try
to borrow it from a friend or to download a few mp3s instead
of listening to short sound samples, which won't give you a
real picture of what it's like for some tracks.
at first, it was my least favorite album from aphex twin,
now it's my favorite along with SAWII...
by the way, if the track titles sound weird to you, that's
because they're anagrams:
"Acrid Avid Jam Shred" > "Richard David James" (aphex twin's
real name)
"The Waxen Pith", "Wet Tip Hen Ax" ou "Next Heap With" >
"The Aphex Twin"
"Wax The Nip" > "Aphex Twin"
"Cow Cud Is A Twin" > "Caustic Window" (another aphex twin
pseudonym...)

~ Acrid Avid Jam Shred ~
first track, well representative of the rest of the album:
the melodies are coming swirling around the rhytmic part of
it, unlike the straight-forwardness in some other aphex twin
works (RDJ album)...
this one is one of the best, a bit of a spacey feeling to it
:)

~ The Waxen Pith ~
another track of the same kind, more classical-oriented with
violins... nice!

~ Wax The Nip ~
third one in the same vein... nothing more to add, it's as
nice as the others but no big changes!
(when i listen casually, sometimes i don't notice the
separations between the tracks)

~ Icct Hedral ~
a superb track (my favorite of the album), which could be an
excellent track for a movie with an impression of
suspense... picture a blue night, lit by the moon, dead
bald/naked trees, etc...

~ Ventolin (video version) ~
a quite weird track, with a high-pitched tone all over the
track which will not please all listeners (even some fans
hate it)! you must get used to it, but once you are, it's a

a quite weird track, with a high-pitched tone all over the
track which will not please all listeners (even some fans
hate it)! you must get used to it, but once you are, it's a
very good track ideed - i like especially the melody, which
seems to come from a deep metallic abyss... (have you seen
lars von trier's 'the kingdom', when the old lady get caught
in a lift which drives her down and down and down, until the
lift distorts, probably sending her to hell even though we
can't be sure?)
richard d. james has asthma -hence the title-, and he wanted
to express claustrophobia in this track.
notice that there is a ventolin EP (in two versions), in
which the track is more in its "element", all the mixes are
very different but share a same feeling...

~ Come On You Slags! ~
...or how to make an innocent dialogue (taken from a porn
flick, but no, i didn't checked it! ;) ) sound almost
scary... apart from that it's the weakest track of the album
imo, sounds a bit out of place.

~ Start As You Mean To Go On ~
starts very well at the beginning, there can be some weak
passages in it depending on your mood after that... but if
you're in the right mood (and even if you're not
completely..) it's very good.

~ Wet Tip Hex Ax ~
a bit reminiscent of the first three tracks, with a little
IcctHedralic flavor too...
this track is the one which needed the most time for me to
appreciate it :)

~ Mookid ~
i don't like the title of this track, reminds me of an
annoying shitty movie for children with a talking monkey...
it's a sympathetic track, with a soft core and some
wiiiii...... aooowww.... over it, to make it "move" a little
more...
i like making plush monkey dance on this track.

~ Alberto Balsalm ~
for some fans it's the best ICYBD track...
i prefer Icct Hedral but i appreciate Alberto Balsalm very
much too!
its name comes from a shampoo, called "Alberto Balsam", and
indeed, i like thinking of this track when i'm washing my
hair!

its name comes from a shampoo, called "Alberto Balsam", and
indeed, i like thinking of this track when i'm washing my
hair!
it makes me think of a hot, relaxing bath, and the "bubbly
bubbly bubbly" at the begging of the tracks make me think
aphex twin may have thought of that, too!
aphex twin is good for your hear, and its foam doesn't make
your eyes hurt!
(what a stupid comment indeed...)

~ Cow Cud Is A Twin ~
a track beginning with a big mess at the studio probably,
then focusing... almost danceable, a bit weird and original
too.
if you care enough, you'll hear a robotic voice saying "a -
phex - twin" and "i - care - be - cause - you - do"...
probably some apple voice...

~ Next Heap With ~
perfect ending, on a classical side!
reminds me a bit of the music in Jet Force Gemini for n64,
but better. :)

something more to add. :)
