Rare Aphex vinyl

I don't know whether this topic has been discussed before
but I'm wondering what rare Aphex vinyl is worth and what
the people out there on the board have actually got. Has
anyone got the first Universal Indicator for instance?

Here is my small list.

Brad Stryder - Bradley's Beat (£50 white label written on
description of tracks)
Caustic Window - Jorex J9 (£10-15 no sleeve)

well I have the HABs, plenty of CD promo versions of regular
releases. Probably the rarest thing I have is a test
pressing of "On" with a longer version of D-Scape (about
1:30 longer) and shorter versions of the rest of the tracks.

MP3 the long ver? }:>

I got mine @ ebay.co.uk loved the music so wanted original.
Don't care who made the UI vinyls cuz I like the acid.

Green is worth a bit but Red, Blue and Yellow you can
normally pick up for about £30 each. J4 and J5 are £30-40
each and J9 (no bonus non-cd tracks) around £15-20. You
just don't go nuts and look for the best times to buy.

ha ha promo i got HAB2 and bradleys beat from jaffa kid for
about £30 each and got SAW II and UI green/yellow for about
the same price. got SAW 85-92 for about £12 on left legged
pineapple website.
worth checking out www.netsounds.com, has some bargains and
some extortion, i have got a couple of good things there so
thats all i can say really

Well, I just saw HAB 2 on ebay for around $300 bucks the
other day. If I recall there were only 1000 copies.

offline xceque on 2003-01-20 13:35 [#00521506]
Points: 5888 Status: Moderator | Show recordbag

HAB2 was limited to 2500 copies worldwide (500 less than
HAB1), 1500 of them for the UK, the rest for the rest of the
world. There were quite a few HAB2s with pressing flaws
though cos I know my local store had to send a few back cos
of it.

offline Duble0Syx from Columbus, OH (United States) on 2003-01-20 13:37 [#00521509]

I could have sworn it were only only 1000, but your proly
right. Oh yeah, that was one of the bradley strider records
that were limited to 1000 wasn't it? I don't know I'm
confused right now. Anyone know how many copies of AB3.1
vinyl there are?

offline nekta from shezlick (United Kingdom) on 2003-01-20 13:41 [#00521514]

If I wanted I could make it so there is only 499 UI greens.
*gets hammer*

I wonder if that happens. :/

offline promo from United Kingdom on 2003-01-20 13:50 [#00521524]

I've got HAB2 cool. I had no idea it was worth £200. I
guess if you've got the money £200 is nothing. Just think
you could probably auction at Sotheby's soon a Aphex Twin
rare vinyl for for probably £10000-50000. :-0

duble, to be honest there are a few minor differences, but
im happy with the re release. and that is good work promo.
£1! i got the saint etienne remixes for £2.50, not a bad
price either!
i got lunatic harness and keynell and the ziq/jega split as
well while we are on rare vinyl :) i have a couple more but
they elude my memory right now...

It's the 4 track vinyl, I think it has the Smelly Cunts
track at the end. It's in the singles section of the old
aphextwin.nu site.

Having read the posts on the record which went for $1800 it
seems that Ebay is really open to abuse with people bidding
up the record themselves and possible fake records. Not that
I am accusing the guy who sold the Aphex record 'cause I'm
not I'm sure he's genuine but aside from that it looks like
the ebay system has obvious weaknesses.

while i'm on i'll add my list, everyone loves lists...
joyrex j4, j5, j9
UI red, blue, yellow, green (minus the plastic bag which i
lost)
HAB 1 and 2
AB1 on mighty force
mescalin united
bradleys beat

plus all the usual ones,
xylem tube, digeridoo - orignal r&s pressings
quoth (clear vinyl)
ab 3 (orig and re-release), 3.1, 4
window licker, come to daddy, donkey rhubarb, ventolin, 2
remixes on MEN and a few other remixes

pacman still eludes me.

lizardfister,

Holy shit is there anything you haven't got? Lol.

I was gonna say that I guess you'd probably save you selling
for a rainy day but then I noticed it seems to rain all the
time in Manchester. :-)

like to think i've got most of it, all of mine were bought
when they were released too.
theres a few things i'm after like the curve remix, pacman
and the pirelli advert 7 inch. i cant really be arsed to bid
on ebay for stuff.

you gonna get the squarepusher thing?

The Pirelli ad one-sided 7" was just a hoax cooked up by the

promo,

one rule i have is you NEVER sell your vinyl. you'll only
regret it. (unless you get 2K for it like AB5!)
