So, since this thread, the mixer between the tables has been
replaced by a PMC06 Pro D (which owns), the old one
relegated to use with electribes/other gear. The carts have
just been replaced with Shure M447s. They're not as good as
concorde scratch needles, but at £65 for a pair they are a
hell of a lot cheaper. I'd used them before so I knew what
they sounded like/how they performed, but what I hadn't seen
was the packaging. On it is says "Sound Emphasis: Big
Bass".

I can only assume they are taking the piss. Aside from the
fact that no one would want a scratch cart to emphasise
bass, it's one of the most high pitched, tinny carts I've
used. That's not a diss, it's ideal for scratching, you just
have to get used to eqing the mid/low on the deck playing
the backing, rather than eqing the high on the deck you're
scratching on.

It's not much cop for listening, I'm glad I've got spare
headshells to allow me to keep "listening" cartridges ready
to change over.

Still, the softly softly scratching style that my old
stanton carts made neccessary means that it's pretty much
unskippable on even the minimum recommended 1.5g tracking
force.

In short, not the best scratch carts by a long way, but
because they've been surpassed, you can get good deals on
them. And, unless you're competing, the performance isn't
too far off better carts, either.

I am hoping to do an XLT radio show once everything is wired
in correctly (internet/network/audio gear). Dunno whether to
stick to a theme, or just play whatever I feel like. Might
be an experience being able to play to such an open minded
audience.

OT - Ceri, I meant the T-Amp wasn't in the package AT ALL.
God knows where it is. Its stupid. Looks like T-Amp delivery
number 3 coming up...

Go with what you feel... and if you feel that you need a
theme, do it.

;)

So, have you actually got a single one yet? When you said
second t-amp, I assumed you really liked the first one and
hence ordered a second one. Who are you buying yours from
(so I know to avoid them)?

Chri5py: Good to see you mate. I've just moved away from
Cirencester, back in Wales now. I still go to Ciren
Monday->Tuesday though if you want to meet up for that
bevvy.

About 6.00pm on a Tuesday I could do, or maybe even a bit
later in the summer months. I go through Tetbury on the way
home. Good to see you're keeping up the Kung Fu, mine has
fallen by the wayside. :(

I got the first one a couple of weeks ago with the main
microchip detatched :S. So i sent it back to be repaired. I
got another one because I didn't want to wait 4 weeks, which
came today, or rather the box that should have contained it
came today.

The guy is an ebay dealer but to be honest I actually trust
him, I think that the first one may have been my fault (dont
ask) and the second one was somehow opened and resealed by
someone - there are signs it had been tampered with, and the
weight on the customs sticker is far heavier than just an
empty box. I'm awaiting a response from the dealer. His name
is mobile inc. So who knows what will happen.
