Higgins Ultra Low Track Glue Funk Hits 1972 - 2006 this is
definitely the best Venetian Snares I've heard, most
accessible on first hearing. I love it. This I'll have to
buy period.

Yeah, Higgins is by far my fave shit by Snares. Haven't
heard all of Winter yet.

Damn, that guy is prolific... take notes, Richie.

the phone number one isn't as good as higgins, i feel,
Higgins is GREAT though, yes it is the most accessible,
promo, it's a great listen, not that harsh either, while
still crazy.

dad:
i had a dream you were still alive
playing motzart records in the basement
and you whistled like you always would
when it hit your favorite part

i had a dream you were still alive
like i could feel your stubble on my face
when you kissed me (?)
and we'd do our special signals together

i had a dream you were still alive
wearing the brown plaid shirt

etc

higgins is excellent but I think doll X3 and winter... are
better overall releases. doll doll doll is still my
favorite vsnares album.

Winter In The Belly is great, especially Dad, the first
track.

But they're all great, has anyone heard Breakbeat Malaria,
so cool.

Higgins is definitely on a par with DDD, both a refreshingly
evil technique. Lovely.

i'm not sure which i like better, higgins or doll. higgins
was my first snares experience, really blew me away. I'm
still waiting for winter to come in.

i haven't got winter in the belly of a snake yet. VSnares is
REALLY HARD to get ahold of here in the states. I had to
order my copy of Higgins Ultra Low from Scotland on ebay.

this is definitely one psychotic masterpiece, the first four
tracks are excellent, there's also some decent ambient on
here, and We Are Oceans - a fantastic closer if i've ever
heard one!

We Are Oceans - I love this track! It's a masterful mix of
beautiful ambient sounds with DnB on top, it's fucking tops!
I haven't got Winter yet either, and I know what your
saying, it is hell finding any VSnares around here.

Still loving this album since buying it a month ago. From
the beginning of Make Ronnie Rocket to the end of Cobra
Commander you're practically in breakcore heaven.

01. Dance Like You're Selling Nails - very good!
02. Banana Seat Girl - excellent!! =)
03. Fuck Off - erm... yeah, a joke i suppose - next?
04. Make Ronnie Rocket - fucked up aggressive but good!
05. Vokeheads - hmm... not bad but after Make Ronnie Rocket
it's a bit too similar, it's starting to become tedious...
06. Deadman DJ - yet another one?? hey, aggro idm is good
but not three fucking same aggro tracks in a row!!! i have
to refrain myself not too skip...
07. Cobra Commander - FUCK! this aaron funk guy doesn't make
bad music but just plain sucks in terms of album
construction. all those fucking similar aggro tracks in a
row...
08. Walmer Side - nice... the sample is too much emphazised,
but nice track.
09. Dismantling Five Years - very nice this one! ambienty...
kind of a marine feeling... =)
10. We Are Oceans - again, nice one. not as good as
Dismantling Five Years in the genre, but still very good.

all in all, some very good tracks some good some ok, no bad
ones but an AWFUL construction of the album - "put the funky
tracks in the beginning, line up all the aggro tracks in the
middle and end with all the ambient tracks"... this sucks
=/
it would have been a very good album if he had removed one
or two aggro tracks and had put smoother ones in between...
such a shame.

(i'm glad RDJ didn't line up all the drill'n'bass tracks on
disc 1 and all the piano (and other) on disc 2 for drukQs!!
yikes °_°)

Yes.

He isn't a very good producer, but his music isn't about
production, it's about going mental.

yeah, but in that case you might also say music isn't about
artwork so let's make shit artwork or no artwork at all for
cd releases, etc...

True. But for me it's about the music itself, good
production is just a bonus.

i played "dance like you are selling nails" over the p.a.
system in the morning before class at my school last year -
every teacher in the school was phoning in telling the
office to "turn that noise off" - what an amazing day :)
