..did you get any CD's from Rare yet?

i'm quite curious if it really works out well, i'm sure it
will, they're reliable imo

not yet
but i only transferred the money to them yesterday (so
hopefully they'll receive it on their bankaccount today...
if they would send out the cd's this afternoon i should get
them tomorrow :-)). But i'm thinking i'll probably receive
them sometime next week...

it's hard to be patient :-p

They seem reliable to me aswell, but seeing as the site is
not fully operational just yet, things are taking a bit
longer (we have to arrange everything thru mail).

I'll use this thread to keep you updated :-)

woohoo!
they arrived today!

I was so excited when i saw a little package waiting for me
when i got home! Things like this are even better
when you've been waiting for them for a long time!

autechre - tri repetae
autechre - garbage
autechre - anvil vapre
autechre - LP5 (in the black cover! yeah! :-))
aphex twin - on
plaid - rest proof clockwork

I don't think i've ever bought so many cd's one day. Hm...
well i did actually, but never before so many cd's that i'd
actually been searching for for a long time!

So far i've only listened to the first 3 tracks of tri
repetae... so i have an interesting night ahead of me :-D

(dael went by a little unnoticed this first time... i
already new Clipper... but Leterel really managed to catch
me by surprise! It starts of very cold and hard and
mechanical... but six minutes later it's all beautiful and
emotional... lovely :-))

Thank you x 1000 for telling me about Rare Records morton!
:-)

haha your welcome, have fun with them, i'm sure you will :)

good thing you got the black cover with that LP5! i really
love that release!!

garbage also very much, you should really take time for the
first song.. it sort of gets started after a couple of
minutes (4 - 5) .. i love that one!

..man i know how you felt waiting for those CDs, i won GAK
CD at ebay.. it should arrive this weekend if everything
goes well..

again good luck with them, glad you're happy :D

This on-ep is really nice! It reminds me very much of
SAW85-92... it's been ages since i last listened to
SAW85-92. I had forgotten how beautiful the oldstyle Aphex
Twin sounded :-)

Only thing i don't like is the natural sounds (oceans,
thunderstorms, talking people) during "on"... the song
doesn't need such effects imo).

Yeah i must admit the black LP5-cover looks awesome! Much
cooler than i would have expected from the picture i saw...
tis very stylish! The huge sticker on the front (with all
the credits) is almost completely detached from the cd
though... the glue must have dried out or something. I'm
tempted to rip it off entirely :-o

I fear if i leave it on it will get torn or folded...
besides i think it will look even cooler completely black
;-) (yes... i have an interesting relationship with
stickers, hehe... this is the first time i've ever felt the
desire to peel one off).

Maybe i'll listen to Garbage next... i doubt i will fully
understand it on the frst listen already though...

That plaid-cd is looking tempting aswell ;-) ah... choices
choices!

well, it looks way cooler entirely black!!

i fell asleep during Restproof Clockwork ;-) Even though i
was planning to stay up and listen to all of them.

But this morning i listened to Rest Proof Clockwork again in
full, and i really liked it!!! What an amazing band!! When
i've gotten to know that album a little better, i will
devote a new thread to it :-)

Tri Repetae - real nice... but very different from what i
expected after only having heard Clipper. That's actually
one of the loudest tracks... the album has more of an
ambient-feeling than i expected. But it's good :-) In fact
it's awesome! I really like how it sounds like some sort of
cold robotical music-machine... at first you think the music
doesn't have any soul... and alot of the elements (like
rhythms and beats and sounds) don't change throughout the
song... it's almost like a computerprogram making music on
it's own. BUT then suddenly at some point in the song... all
the elements suddenly fall into place, and there's this
gorgeous and breathtaking moment that really blows you away!
(happened to me alot while listening to Tri Repetae)... and
then you realise that it's not just coincidence... but the
work of two musical geniusses :-)

Garbage - beautiful! I think this will be the music i listen
to in my sleep for the next couple of weeks :-) It reminded
me of SAW II a little... actually i can't wait to listen to
it again :-D

And you were right about that first song! It starts off a
little boring, but after a couple of minutes it gets started
in a big way :-)

LP5 (still haven't peeled it off, hehe) - i think this is
going to be my favourite AE out of everything i bought
yesterday. When i listened to it yesterday... i had the
feeling that i wasn't able to understand it yet... a bit
like listening to druqks for the first time. Hm...
overwhelming is the right word i think. But i already heard
lots of things that i really liked! More than the others, i
feel as if this album is going to grow on me.

I haven't listened to Anvil Vapre yet :-o

I came to the computer to write a little mail to Rare
Records to let them know they arrived :-) And then i'm off
to listen to Anvil Vapre. (but i wound up on this mb again
;-) Now i've been sitting here for an hour already, lol).

hm Tri Repetae is the only release i still didn't 'get into'
i think, i rarely play it.. have hardly given it a try i
think...
i should take time for it i think, i will -> but you must
promise to take time for garbage esp. the first track
(others are good as well) just play it from the beginning to
the end for 14 minutes..

and LP5? listened to it yet? i remember when i got it (you
probably remember it also.. the '1000x YESSSSS' thread :) )
i played acroyear2 a few times really really loud, man it
rocked! and still...

that's the first track right?
Yeah that one sounded really good! Very powerful :-)

When i'm not listening to it around midnight and people are
trying to sleep... i'll crank up the volume for it too! :-p

"ow damn didn't see the second part before i posted
:D
"

yeah sorry, i feared the entire post would be too long and
i'd get cut off by the mb again ;-) So i made two posts out
of it.

hehe... yeah waiting for something like that can be rather
frustrating ;-)

But think of it like this: the longer you've waited for
it... the better it feels when your package eventually does
arrive! :-D

i'll use this thread :)

did you see seinfeld yesterday?!
they started all over again with episode 1, 'good news bad
news' ! :\

i was really waiting for 'the calzone' to come, then those
idiots decided to broadcast the first episode..

well it was quite funny though :)
funny too that kramer is called kessler in that episode
only,
and that the first sentence the episode starts with ('bout
georges buttons) is also the last sentence of the last
episode

:)

still i'm quite scared they will suddenly stop broadcasting
seinfeld for some reason.. when summerholidays start or
something..

remember this?

(Enter George; he's extremely excited - he's dancing around
the room, singing the Zorba theme)

GEORGE: I'm outta there. I did it! It's over.

JERRY: You did it? What happened?

GEORGE: I told her. In the kitchen - which was risky 'cause
it's near all the knives. I started with the word "Listen."

JERRY: Ah ha.

GEORGE: I said, "Listen Marlene," and then the next thing I
know, I'm in the middle of it. And there's this voice inside
of me going: "You're doing it! You're doing it!" And then
she started to cry, and I weakened a bit. I almost relented,
but the voice, Jerry. The voice said "Keep going, keep
going. You're almost out!" It's like I was making a prison
break, you know. And I'm heading for the wall, and I trip
and I twist my ankle, and they throw the light on you, you
know. So, somehow I get though the crying and I keep
running. Then the cursing started. She's firing at me from
the guard tower: "Son of a bang! Son of a boom!" I get to
the top of the wall - the front door. I opened it up, I'm
one foot away, I took one last look around the penitentiary,
and I jumped!

JERRY: See, it's never as bad as you imagine.

still a shame they started with the first season again...

"did you see seinfeld yesterday?!"

Yeah, i saw that... what the hell is going on there at V8?!
We were just about to get to the really good episodes
(season 7, 8, 9 are by far my favourites)... and now they
start all over again?! It's insane!

"well it was quite funny though :)"

Well... it was charming to see the very first episode... but
it's definitely not one of the best :-p

My favourite joke was when Kramer tore an article out of a
magazine, and jerry looks at him angrily...

Kramer: Are you done with this?

Jerry: NO!

And then licks it and 'glues' it back in the magazine, hehe
;-)

"funny too that kramer is called kessler in that episode
only,
"

I thought it was much more notable that Jerry's father was a
different actor altogether :-p

"still i'm quite scared they will suddenly stop
broadcasting seinfeld for some reason..
"

Yeah... me too... V8 is not a very reliable station. It
could end at any moment really :-/

Remember the good old days when Net5 broadcasted 2 episodes
in a row, every night? And then afterwards you could switch
over to BRT1, and they also broadcasted an episode! Mmmm...

Well... let's go see which season they'll be showing tonight
:-)

"remember this? "

hehe, yeah i do! :-p

My problem with the earlier episodes is that they sometimes
explain too much. Their subtle humor... maybe they were
afraid people wouldn't 'get' it, so i think sometimes it
"ligt er een beetje dik bovenop" ;-) (sorry non-dutch
readers, i didn't know how to translate that). That scene
you quoted was quite funny... but compare it to some of the
later george relationship-endings... "Turn your key Maura!
Turn your key!" haha ;-)

"still a shame they started with the first season
again...
"

Yeah... but i must admit i did have a really good time
tonight :-p That was a cool episode with the ponies!

And this conversation... oh man, i laughed and i laughed :-p
This is just so Kramer!

Jerry: So, when do I get my dinner?

Kramer: There's no dinner. The bet's off. I'm not
gonna do it.

Jerry: Yes. I know you're not gonna do it. That's why
I bet.

Kramer: There's no bet if I'm not doing it.

Jerry: That's the bet! That you're not doing it!

Kramer: Yeah, well, I could do it. I don't want to do
it.

Jerry: We didn't bet on if you wanted to. We bet on
if it would be done.

Kramer: And it could be done.

Jerry: Well, of course it could be done! Anything
could be done! But it only is done if it's done. Show me the
levels! The bet is the levels.

Kramer: But I don't want the levels!

Really a definining moment for the entire seinfeld-show...
litterally a conversation about nothing :-p

So i had to do some traveling yesterday. And i thought,
since that meant i would already be halfway to eindhoven, it
might be a good opportunity to finally go to rare-records
myself (and bullit too). So i did.

I went to a bank first to get money out of the pinautomaat,
and i promised myself i wouldn't spend anymore than
that :-p Well i kept my promise... but now i can't stop
thinking about all those records i had to leave behind,
hehe...

for beginners piano, caustic window compilation, surfing on
sinewaves, the mike&rich album, amber, chichli suite,
gescom, mira calix, vatican nitez... this list goed on and
on... just to think that i could have owned all those
albums. (i would have been bankrupt though ;-) So in the end
i feel quite proud of myself for showing so much
restraint).

What i did buy was:
Boc - hi scores (i particularly enjoy tracks 1 and 6... but
it's annoying that boc recycle tracks sometimes. It makes it
feel more like a compilation than a proper ep.

autechre - envane (haven't listened to it yet)

chris clark - clarence park (sounds very nice so far!)

venetian snares - witboas (love those harsh drill'n'bass
sounds! I'd like to hear an album with only that... witboas
seems a little too subtle at times. Well not that there's
anything wrong with subtle, but i was just expecting it to
be more insane :-p. Still i like it alot though. Except
"she"... ugh, why on earth did he record that?! It's even
worse than tom's love will tear us apart cover. Thank god it
doesn't last very long).

plaid - not for threes (only listened to this in the train
back home. But that was really too noisy to hear much of the
music :-/)

It was great though. Man, i wish we had stores like that in
Alphen :-p

heh cool you liked it :)

sometimes it sucks to have shops like that so nearby though,
it's so easy (/too easy) to buy all that stuff, i spend way
too much money on cd's imo
i always go there thinking; "i'll just have a look and maybe
listen something", but most of the times i walk out with one
or more cd's

still i should be grateful that those shops exist of course
:)

i saw rare records had this glue funk hits cd back in
stock, so i want to go get it. I was afraid you'd bought
it!

it's funny though, 'pinautomaat'. it's a cash dispenser
right? funny word. you say cash dispenser, you hear pez
dispenser.

""i'll just have a look and maybe

lol
I can understand now that i'v been there!
And i see what you mean... living so close to such a store
would become rather expensive. But still i envy you ;-)

"i saw rare records had this glue funk hits cd back in

Yes, i saw that one too. But i didn't have anything from VS
yet, and i remember OOR calling witboas his best album yet.
Lord knows why i put my trust in OOR :-/ But it seemed to me
like a good beginning. But when i left the cd was still
there, so you can probably still go pick it up.

" cash dispenser"

ah yes! That's it. Couldn't think of the word. There are
probably only dutch people reading this thread though, so it
doesn't really matter ;-)
