I have gone deaf in one ear and the doctor thinks I may
have permanent loss of hearing in that ear (although to what
extent he isn't sure)

Life is such a peice of shit sometimes

I have a wierd sinus problem on the left hand side of my
face which has effected my ear over the years. The doctors
couldn't do anything about it, I got the flu last week and
lost the hearing all together.

They gave me an appointment to have it checked in a
hospital, but the appointment isn't until March, so I am not
even allowed to drive or anything until then.

WOW, you cannot drive?....How wierd, is that because of the
hearing, or does it affect your vision too?

offline ecnadniarb on 2002-12-31 01:26 [#00496103]

Just the hearing. Because it effects spacial awareness or
something when you go from stereo hearing into just having
the one ear. I dunno, I am just pissed off with it all at
the moment.

I dont know the details of your problem... (ie what parts of
the ear where damaged), but there are operations now adays
that can restore hearing.

I truely hope you do not go deaf.

Gracis amigos.

I am thinking about just going down to the hospital on
Thursday and refusing to leave until they sort me out.
Because I reckon if I just leave it till March it might do
more damage.

I should be OK, I have ultimate faith in Jah :)

I am not getting too down with it because at the end of the
day there is nothing I can do yet. Also 1 ear is better
than no ears, we have to be thankful for small mercy's

That's really sad, I'm sorry to hear that...it must be
awful.

Maybe it's a sign that you need hippy enlightenment like Gaz
Cobain from FSOL!

I have had chronic sinus problems for years now, should I be
worried about its effects over time? How long have you been
having problems?

that is bad news. but i know someone who has lost the
hearring in one earr, and in time they said its almost like
it was neverr therre, and they use the otherr earr morre
wisely, eg) turrning theirr head slightly when they listen
and stuff like that.
but its still bad news. sorrrry man.

Ohhhh man. I'd be so frustrated if I lost hearing. I
probably will someday, with the amount and the VOLUME of the
music I listen to... hope the doctor is wrong and it fixes
itself, or SOMEthing. But hey, Brian Wilson was deaf in one
ear, he did pretty well.

At least you're seeing the silver lining, I'd go wacky.

shit, that is awfull news ecnadniarb, go to the hospital as
soon as you can and have them look at it agian, maybe
another hospital, because its always good to get a second
opinion from a different doctor. I hope it turns out well
and recovers. I will think good thoughts for you

I just realised I never updated this...in the end all I
suffered from was a 20% loss of hearing in my left ear, but
there is still the chance in the future it will get worse.
So if you ever listen to any of my music and it is off
balance you know why :P

It is kinda touching how nice every one was, I don't know

its quite sad, what our 'community' has become. and what all
do you think it is due to? some people having too much of
other members? or just natural deteroration, as we all know
from entropy, all systems are constantly deterorating and
erroding, but even a synthetic one we have created follows
the same patterns - weird eh?

fuck that, I'm sure we'd rally behind someone who had the
possibility for a debilitation that we all would be fucked
for (hearing loss in particular)

have a little faith....

that sucks, i feel for ya. i had an injury to my ear when i
was 10 and it broke my stirrup bone...i lost almost all of
the hearing in that ear until i was 13. they operated on
the ear and took out the broken bone and put in a new
titanium one. i got most of my hearing back after that, but
i did have to have another fairly minor surgery (i was only
out of school/work for two weeks) to pop the thing back into
place (it must have wiggled itself loose somehow) last fall,
but now, i have almost all of my hearing back in that ear.
im so glad that i live in a day and age when this sort of
thing is possible!

dont know what I'd do if I lost my hearing :\
