Yes, the first track is very short. The rest are more like
proper merzbow time.

Yes, confield surely is. The new album (out in april we
hope) is described as being the most accessible until now. I
am a little scared of what that means...

Yes, it could be. If such a commercial should be made...

Anyway confield is great and LP5 is right behind it, goive
it a try, tolstoyed, you'll love it once.

Well, martes is a fantastic album, one of my fave albums
this year. Good choice.

Maybe they did use guitar samples, Akita has done it
before...

when i got my satanstornade album, i took it along when my
sister drove me somewhere, so i asked her if i can put this
music on to see what is it all about-she allowed and then
after listening to it for about 30 secs she asked me if this
cd is mafunctioned hehe
she otherwise really digs some other idm stuff

sometimes i'm in the mood for that stuff but usually i get
bored quickly. the 'mysteries of the sun' track does fit
into the wifof2003 file quite nicely though

Ahh, tolstoyed, that story is so common. Have you heard of
this guy massimo, he's on Mego and his new album "Hello
Dirty" is power-electronics similar to merzbow. My mate here
has been broadcasting it on a local radio and technical
people called him to tell him they have problems with the
equipment, but he told them it was just "experimental
electronic" music and they calmed down, only to call him a
couple of minutes later to tell him to turn it off as it
seems that it really damaged some of their equipment.

Merzbow's had an album on Mego this year too and it features
very fucked up, broken beats...

a 40 min mix of warps 2003 releases, just do a search on
slsk "wifof2003.mp3", 64mgs i just burnt it to cd and am now
going to listen to it while learning. it's between two luke
vibert tracks. the crossfade is really long so while the
noise gets intense you still can hear the melodies.

well, massimo is realy noisy. Even by Mego standards. In
comparison to him Fennesz sounds like a hippy.

and i gotta go through twenty pages today. i always learn
with headphones on even if i dont wanna listen to anything i
put em on.
when i listen to some old stuff i sometimes have to think of
some calculations i did whilst listening to it, kinda
'conditioning'

Huh, I used to listen to the music while studying, but only
while doing math, when i was doing the reading it had to be
in silence.

Cheffe: yes, but is it the final version?

Tolstoyed: I wish I had philip jeck. I hear good things
about him, but so far no luck... But I am sure massimo is a
lot noisier, though low bitrate might blunt it a little.

massimo is not all that noisier i think
tho some of philip jeck stuff is pretty "normal"

well, i don't have slsk my self, i just rely on some friends
who download stuff for themselves and do some of it for me.
But they now have wishlists one mile long so I can't really
demand jeck. I'll get him sooner or later...

Anyway, jeck uses just turntables (dozens of them), and
massimo uses laptop as far as I'm informed, so that should
be the main difference...

Hmm, well, Philip Jeck is not really considered to be noise
(I haven't heard anything by him, mind you) as he comes from
a different dirrection. He does not belong it the noise
"fraternity", does not share their aesthetics etc.

I have lots of Mego releases, they are a really great and
adventurous label.

jeck-he sounds pretty easy listening now hehe, very
ambiental compared to all this other stuff
more alike 310 than massimo :)

Well, there you have it. A lot of old electroacoustic/
concrete music is considered to be "noise" by "normal"
people, but compared to merzbow or massimo, they don't sound
even half as abrasive.

he is not noise at all- he just doesnt use clear
sounds-thats about it
but i love the "open" track from the stoke album

there was an collabo between john zorn and masami akita- am
i right? their music must have been pretty fucked up...

yesterday i made interesting musical experiment- i listened
to merzbows pieces from "tauromachine" lp first and then to
"nostalgia" by zorn- i ve never appreciated that track as
much as i did yesterday after akitas sound attack :o)

and mr meho Gliwice doesnt mean "mushrooms" in polish- the
name for mushrooms is "grzyby"
