Ive been taking a look at some of my magazine covers lately and Ive been thinking. Does anyone really ACTUALLY look at all the text on the covers? I mean almost in everycorner theres some bit of info that really shouldn't be there. Like is anyone goign to pay attention to it?
I just bought an Outdoor Photography mag today and this is whats on it:
Top tiny red bar above mag logo: "Digital tips: Beat high contrast - Try Macro lens - Fix faded slides"
Main topic on the left: How Pros Shoot Sharp (and below that: Use their special gear & tricks - A case for the "steady" lens)
under that on the bottom: Its all about light! -Extreme western light and weather - how to work with light and digital - soft light in the intimate landscape
then on the side by the barcode: filter secret: the midday polarizer
COME ON!!!! Who would notice all that? seriously. They waste so much space on covers its crazy! Un-needed ink and it blocks the cover pic. and it really makes the mag look really sensationalistic.
Everyone should be like National Geographic who has THE best mag cover anywhere!
