Dude I'm like one of those sick sick annoying Radiohead fanatics.
Pablo Honey (don't like it) The Bends (I love it! esp. Iron Lung which is like my music)
Ok Computer (eh, not my favorite) Amnesiac Kid A (both of which I like, but I like Amnesiac better)
I like Radiohead because he can do a nice job sounding distressed.

I love all the albums equally. they all share the left side of my bed when i go to sleep with them. i make outfits for the cd cases and take them out for walks to the mail...one one day and then the other the other day. i polish the cd cases everyday. and make sure nothing gets on them! any dust and i totally loose myself!!
nothing but the best of care for my cds :

i love radiohead. ok computer is one of the greatest albums ever made. but...
i just got through listening to Kid A after almost a year of not hearing it, and i was not happy. maybe its my increased listenign to IDM, or something in the lyrics that seems absent on this and Amnesiac, but it just isn't the same album i heard in 2000.

I don't like them as much as I did a year ago... Thom is getting more and more on my nerves, that's not a good sign. I no longer like his voice on some tracks. Arg! Oh well, nothing I can do to control my preferences.
I'd got Pablo Honey, The Bends, OK Computer, Kid A, Amnesiac... and OK Computer is scratched to shit beyond function now, I wore it out so much in grade 12. And Kid A is the thing that led me to Aphex... so Radiohead is morbidly important to me. Every one of their albums is near perfect except for Pablo Honey, which just bores me silly. I like Creep, though... not representative of their other work at all which kind of hurts them if people expect more tracks like that, but a great pop song.

i can't speak for ophecks but he and i seem to be having the same problem.
i will say that i don't pay attention to IDM fans who say radiohead are crap. posers, etc, because thats completely wrong. but kid a and amnesiac are simply boring to me when placed alongside the music that they led me to listen to. they aren't necessarily bad albums, in fact they certainly aren't, but i think the core problem is that after radiohead one finds all of these great innovative artists who have been playing with that sound for years, have tweaked it, and radiohead were treading in new waters. it was brave that they did it at all though, and i credit them for my interest in the music i currently listen to.
i actually do enjoy the kid a/amnesiac songs live though, there seems to be more spirit present in them.

Not sure what you mean... me starting to dislike Thom's voice, or the ''bash Creep'' mentality? Eh?
I don't really like their electronic experiments... it got me into that style, though, so kudos to them. I liked it at first, but it just doesn't sound impressive to me anymore, I can't give a reason, just... I don't like it as much anymore, that shit happens with every band. Packt Like Sardines, Push/Pulk, Treefingers, I usually skip these tracks. Idioteque has lost my interest, too... but the rock tracks are so perfect, Optimistic and Knives Out and I Might Be Wrong.
Their electronic stuff led me to music of a similar style, only much better... but nobody does rock better than them. I'd rather them not delve deeper into the electronic thing, but I can't fault them for it, it takes balls. Just personal preference.
I don't care what wanker IDM snobs say. Hell, I listen to Travis and LOVE THEM. ;-)

well, i and other people i've talked to already listened to the warp roster before kid a and amnesiac came out. speaking for myself, i don't see either album as a "stab at IDM." there are influences but then again they've always been influenced by electronic music. it's just that these 2 albums the influences are more prevalent. still, i don't consider them "IDM" albums because there's a lot going on. no one would mistake these albums for anyone but radiohead and i do NOT think they ripped off anyone. they definitely made something original (which doesn't mean the same thing as "they invented a new genre", which is a concept that surely MUST be offputting). i think the 2 albums, especially kid a, are pointedly cold because that's what they wanted to do. they wanted to make something with a minimal, barren feel, as a reaction to the frenzy they had experienced doing concert and promo tours for the last few years. i think they accomplished it perfectly and the albums really are beautiful in or outside of that context.
