spot on really. but i think you could've phrased it better. i think people should be encouraged to think as an individual rather than a collective. i am a strong believe in a collcective conciousness but i guess it's a matter of collective mental health which outweighs the need for organised religion. on a wider issue, if we are to advance as a species, we need to recognise this. |

However, you say Christians are too busy doing 'the Lord's work'.. Oftentimes churchgoers misinterpret things to mean that it has to be straight evangelism, which is a turnoff. Didn't Christ say 'when you did [fed the hungry, clothed the naked, etc] it to the least of these, you did it for me'? Also, look at the first two commandments. Christ was less concerned with being pious than he was with doing precisely what you said: helping others. Doing the Lord's work *should* be just that.. putting others before yourself. Christ condemned the Pharisees who were thought to be the real religious ones.. it was those who loved their neighbor whom Christ commended. |
