Daedelus is the father of Icarus (another electronic artist,
I believe, though they(or he (or she)) sound more like AE
from what I have heard) who flew too close to the sun.

And the artist is a bit too.... loungish for me.

Nah he puts on great shows. The monome instrument he uses
is really crazy. I actually had the chance to open for him
last year, it was a crazy line-up...I was very lucky to have
that chance. Anyhow, the show was kind of going more
abstract glitched out classical (i guess thats what you
would call it). When he got up on stage he said he had put
together a more hiphop set, but wanted to kind of keep the
mood going. On the fly he just made something more geared
towards the previous sets (but of course his style infused).
It was one of the best sets of his I'd seen. If you have
a chance to see a show of his, I highly recommend it.

im going to see him tomorrow. i didn't really plan to go as
i find his music dull, but i was assigned to do a review..
may be good, we'll see..i have to look into this monome
thing, no idea what it is.

monome

Daedelus' monome is all beat up and held together with duct
tape.

Well from what I understand, he uses max/msp in conjunction
with the monome and uses it like a 16 track sequencer with
16 different steps. Depending on the buttons pushed the
sequencers run backwards and forwards. you have complete
control of each sequence starting and ending points as well
as sampling on the fly. Its like running 16 ableton lives.
I do know that he creates overall ideas for his sets, but
improvs the majority of the time.
