i just completed zelda: majora's mask (ridiculously easy
bossfight!)... and i have to say: what a crap ending! :-s

All the endings of nintendo-games on the N64 have been
really dissapointing (mario64, papermario, ocarina of
time...). All those games are absolutely fantastic, but the
endings suck.

In the good old SNES-days they used to make special pictures
or animations for the endings... but on n64 they just use
the same old graphics as in the game itself... extremely
unsatisfying.

Anyone know of any N64-games with a beautiful and satisfying
ending? And how does sunshine-mario end? (if anyone here has
completed it already)... or pikmin for that matter... any
nintendo-game really :-)

Mario Sunshine's ending sucked almost as bad as the game
itself

I thought Ocarina had a good ending! I gave up on Majora
tho, it was hella pants =oD

...so right.

i beat the final boss at first try, and the ending sequence
was crappy...

(do you remember the endings of the earthworm jims 1 & 2?)

Half-Life's ending was a big letdown after such a great
game. That's probably the worst ending I've ever played
through.

FFX had the worst ending in the history of gaming, well it
wasnt a good game as the previous ones

why did you finnish it if it sucked so bad? ;-)

And yeah, i finished that entire part of the game on the
moon it one try! It was crazy... the only slightly difficult
part was the dungeon where you had to roll as a goron across
those narrows ledges... but you can't loose any hearts if
you fall off!

And the bossfight... i just walked up to that thing and hit
it a couple of times... and that was it... how
dissapointing.

Ganondorf in Ocarina of time was alot harder to beat!

oh and no i don't remember those endings... in only have
earthworm jim (1) for the good old black/white gameboy :-D

And i never finished that, way too difficult. Half the time
the screen is too blurred to see what's going on.

I made myself finish it so I'd never have to play it again!

I can't actually think of a game I've played with a good
ending (and I've been playing for 15 years).... maybe Super
Mario... something

heh :-p

Would you believe this is the first time i've ever heard
anyone say something negative about mario sunshine!

(still looks forward to it).

Super Mario Bros 2 (NES) had an amazing ending. That final
picture of Mario sleeping looked great. Unlike anything i've
ever seen on the NES.

And if i remember correctly you could also see the words
'the end" being written onto the screen... it was really
great for it's time! I was amazed when i first saw it.

Can't remember any of the other mario's endings though...
probably they weren't very special.

Yeah I was gonna mention that one, that had a cool ending.
Plus the bosses in it were always quite tough. Well I
thought so until I played it on ZSNES and finished the
fucker on my second go. Oh well.

And Mario Sunshine is OK - it just doesn't advance on Mario
64 much, you don't get to fight properly (mostly use your
water gun to waste people), the camera is pretty fuckin
ropey and it's so FRUSTRATING you'll want to KILL THE
WORRRRLLLLDDDD

Pikmin has a satisfactory ending; or at least in comparison
to the others you mentioned. Speaking of, look what I'm

-And I agree with worski about Sunshine. I'd also like to
add that the theme of the game is a major turn-off.. If I
wanted obnoxiously bright colors I'd drop 3 tabs of acid and
chew on a box of crayons.

you should play Conker's Bad Fur Day... it consists almost
entirely out of such parts ;-)

Easily the most frustrating game i've ever played. But also
very very funny... i kept playing just to see what would
happen next. But all the while i was screaming at the
television and nearly wrecked the controller... damn... i
hate that game!

the main game was a bastard. And I don't think I liked any
of the multiplayer bits. AND the ending sucked major balls!

Actually the holiday-theme of mario sunshine doesn't seem
too great to me either. I'll probably still by it... you
know, because well.. it's mario :-D

And i'm hoping the gameplay will be so great i'll forget all
about the holiday-theme ;-)

And what's wrong with the camera? Did they change the system
from mario64? I thought it worked excellent there!

The theme doesn't really ruin the game... I thought it was
bearable. The camera almost ruins it though! You use the
second joystick (on the right) to control it... and it just
doesn't work properly when there are buildings around. Oh to
have Lakitu back...

also... super mario world didn't really advance much on
super mario bros 3. And SMW is still the best mario-game
i've ever played :-D

I loved the part where you had to fight the big pile of shit
that was singing an opera :-p

So funny i almost forgot to fight it. I particularly loved
the way it warmed it's voice (mi mi mi mi mi) before it
started singing ;-)

All the movie-parodies were cool also. But for a game that
funny, the ending was rather sober to say the least. They
should have saved the best jokes for the ending damnit! Have
some reward for all your troubles.

I'm still having nightmares about having to swim through
those sewers with the rotating knives... ouch

You mean to tell me the camera doesn't do anything by itself

game?... oh my god... what was nintendo thinking? Lakitu did
such an excellent job!

I was quite impressed with GC Zelda when I first saw it
running (unlike 99% of people) but I dunno... I've sort of
gone off the idea of it now... especially after Majora's..
that game was just complete shite, it wasn't fun to play, it
made my life a misery! And despite what Shigsy says, I think
everyone really would have liked to see a dark as fuck adult
Zelda game

Mario Sunshine is awesome, and I've come to LOVE the camera!
It's second nature to me now. The game makes me want to piss
constantly, though. So much water. It also makes my mouth
crave sugar for some reason.

A wicked ending is Chrono Trigger... you actually walk
around a castle and talk to the Squaresofy Developing team,
they hint at ''Chrono Trigger 2'' and say other crazy shit.

Pikmin is DEFINATELY worth it. It is fairly short -but-
the gameplay is so enthralling you'll play it over and over
again. I haven't had so much fun playing a game in a
looooong time. It's probably one of my top 5 favorite games
of all time.. It has definately earned it's place in the
Nintendo Hierarchy i.e. Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Donkey Kong,
Starfox... If you decide to buy it and you don't like it,
I'll personally refund your money.

Let me know what you think.

Starfox Adventures is another good game that ends all too
soon. I just read that they're making a new Starfox R-Wing
based game for the GC; a proper sequel to the Nintendo 64
one.

"especially after Majora's.. that game
was just complete shite, it wasn't fun to
play, it made my life a misery!"

ehr... really? What did you think about Ocarina Of Time
then? Majora's Mask felt to me like an improved version of
OOT! I had incredibly much fun playing it. Link is a great
character, and all the worlds were much better designed than
in OOT. It took me a couple of plays to get used to the
three-day-cycle though... sort of annoying at first, but in
the end i just loved it :-)

And i have always thought (and still think) the GC-zelda
looks amazing, like a dream come true. Who'd want a dark
adult version of Zelda when you can play this instead? It
reminds me very much of NES & SNES episodes of zelda! (and
that's a good thing imo)

ocarina of time vs. majora's mask... i definitely prefer
ocarina -- mostly because of the ambiance.
the ambiances of the two games are really different; when i
saw the first images of mm, i thought it really could have
been a dream i'd have had if i dreamed of ocarina of time,
you know, how dreams distort - replace - ??? things... this
isn't necessary a bad thing but i really prefer ocarina of
time, it's warmer and i got more into the ambiance of it
than in mm.
and in oot i haven't found zones where i was stuck for days
and days (except one room i haven't found in the temple of
water), getting mad while trying to solve it -- and this is
definitely a good thing.
besides oot had more temples.

Yeah i see your point. Sometimes Majora's Mask does feel
like a weird distorted version of Ocarina. (i thought
especially the jungle-level was really weird... strange
colors). I see what you mean about the ambiance. Ocarina had
that "magical kindom" feeling more than Majora's Mask.

But on the other hand, i thought Hyrule Field was very
dull... just a large open space with not much happening.
Whenever i think about Ocarina... i think about endlessly
long walks from kokiri forrest all the way to the palace.

Termina Field is much more exciting AND it has the classical
Zelda music playing :-)

I also loved the fact that those annoying gold skultulas
were only on two locations, and not all over the place like
in OOT.

And yeah, Majora's Mask had less temples, but you had to do
much more inbetween the temples... which i loved, especially
helping all the people in your notebook.

I wish it would have been the first zelda game on N64 :-)
That way it wouldn't seem like a strange version of ocarina.
I feel ocarina has a nicer ambiance, but majora's mask is
better balanced.

"and in oot i haven't found zones where i was stuck for days

hm... for me it was the other way around. I found Majora's
Mask to be more frustration-free than ocarina. I never once
had that feeling of not knowing what to do next... it was
always clear. Maybe I have just been lucky in stumbling on
the solutions this time? I got stuck on OOT many many times

nope, i don't even thinks it's been released over here yet.
America is always faster with the releases :-/

(altough the game 'doshin the giant' apparently won't be

hehe, don't know much about it though).

In fact, i don't even have a game cube yet! I'm waiting for
a Game Cube + Mario Sunshine set to go on sale. And maybe
another price-drop? ;-) Altough it's probably too soon for
that.

I can't imagine buying a nintendo-console without a
