I love this album...it's energetic yet maintains a musical ambience throughout. "Blue Room" and "Towers of Dub" are gifts to the very concept of music itself. A classic record.
I can sleep to it, too.

Agreed. Thought the Orb was going slowly out of sight with Cydonia, but "Death of Elphame" relieved my feas, and "Bless You" is quite chunky and funky....

the absurdly long 39m 58s version deserves a mention too. now (almost) guarenteed its place in history as the longest single ever due to new rules and guidelines regarding track numbers and lengths on singles

Well it depends. 'Oxbow Lakes' was my favorite song off the album, and the remixes are quite good.
Sabres of Paradise are on there, plus a cool string arrangement. Definitely a worthwhile purchase.

"Towers of Dub" still kicks my ass to this very day! I haven't listened to the Orb in so long! I am glad this thread was bumped!

orbvs terrarvm goes on as an album should. they have a couple like that, that work clear through. there's one track orbvs there that takes a riff from miles and tweeks it a little. pleasant repetitive discords.
does anyone know what album the rework of 3am eternal comes off?
that track is as classic as the original.

xian: Are you talking about the Orb's remix? That's on the _UK_ version of Auntie Aubrey's Excursions Beyond the Call of Duty Part 2 (CD1, Track 1)...
Funk: Start at the first two albums, "The Orb's Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld" and "U.F. Orb". They're pretty much the spacy, ambient-house masterpieces that launched a 1000 imitators. "Orbus Terrarum" and "Orblivion" are more textured in sound and "down-to-earth", but a very nice direction change for the group. "Live 93" is a nice pick-up, too.
Just be warned. This is "Orb" ambience, not "Eno" or "Aphex" ambience.
revpersona: Oxbow Lakes EP is nice, but I rate the Blue Room EP (with the full version Blue Room and Assassin (the oasis of rhythms mix), then their first Peel Session higher. :)
