also, if anyone needs to talk to me, my aim is roygbivcore.
i haven't started the mix yet, so please don't ask me about
if your song is on it. but i am doing my best to get as much
from everyone and narrowing it down to certain tracks i like
and ones that flow together well.

Maybe Phob will be nice and host a mp3 rather an mp3? I
just have something against m3u files. Proly cause they
sound like shit. If no mp3 is available here I could be
patient enough to dl it from you and share it on whales
server...

If you are going to make a continuous mix and put it on mp3,
make a cue file to go along with it. A cue file is a little
like an m3u file.

With one mp3, you'll avoid the annoying breaks between
tracks. With a cue file, your player can still seek inside
the mp3 to the track you want.

um, i have NO IDEA how to make a cue file.

offline Inverted Whale from United States Minor Outlying Islands on 2002-10-08 17:06 [#00396736]

You can make one by hand pretty easily if you know the
format. Check the opennap server for some real examples.

The message board is probably going to mangle this, here is
what they look like:

TITLE "Also Sprach Zarathustra, Op. 30 / Reiner / Chicago
Symphony Orchestra / RCA 61494"
FILE
"richard_strauss_-_also_sprach_zarathustra_-_reiner.mp3"
MP3
TRACK 01 AUDIO
TITLE "Sunrise"
PERFORMER "Richard Strauss"
INDEX 01 00:00:00
TRACK 02 AUDIO
TITLE "Of The People Of The Unseen World"
PERFORMER "Richard Strauss"
INDEX 01 01:31:42
...etc...

Exact Audio Copy makes them for me when I rip a CD, you can
just make them by hand in your favorite text editor, or use
this for the outline.

any old text editor will do the trick, forget what that is
on a Mac - isn't it teachtext or simpletext?

offline kluizenaar from Netherlands Antilles on 2002-10-08 17:48 [#00396806]

just an idea, cubase lets you import mp3 files. So you can
mix them ,timetretch add effects etc on different tracks.

When the mix is finished you can export the track to wave
(dunno if mp3 conversion is supported) so you can fuck
around with it some more in wavelab in which mp3 conversion
is supported.

kluizinar: um. ok. i have a mac. i use sound edit which lets
me mess with pitch, tempo, all sorts of shit then i export
it as an aiff file, and rip it back as an mp3

elsewhere.
