What other music do you listen to, beside Aphex Twin?

Wizard MaC from Amersfoort (Holland) on 2001-03-29 12:19 [#00001870]

When I'm not playing an Aphex record, I mostly listen to
Speedy J (a shocking hobby), Laurent Garnier (unreasonable
behaviour), The Prodigy (Experience!!! they mensioned Aphex
in the inlay of this cd!), Depth Charge (Lust), Fatboy Slim
(Halfway...), and off course my own self-burned cd's.
(called "Here I come" and "Your shoes are beautiful!")

In three years, I've made about 200 tracks, but most ones
aren't finished and I have the habit to start new track
almost everytime I work with the computer...

felix from london on 2001-03-29 12:25 [#00001871]

here's a suggestion man; stop listening to fat boy slim and
the prodigy for starters. they are both shockingly bad. and
incredibly lame men as well. as 4 your tunes, i know the
feeling. weird how almost every twin fan in the universe has
attempted to make their own splodgy tunes. probably quite
badly:)

Wizard MaC from Holland on 2001-03-29 12:31 [#00001872]

"Sorry" Felix, everybody has his own taste, and this is my
taste. I've got The Prodigy Experience cd since I was 10
years old and it was my first meeting with this kinda music
and in my opinion it's still a classic! Fatboy Slim also
rocks!

nano from malmö/sweden on 2001-03-29 12:37 [#00001874]

i think i like aphex because im so interested in just
sounds, anything that makes sounds.. and therefor is just
aphex´s play with sounds the main reason i love him.. i
think.

nano from malmö/sweden on 2001-03-29 12:39 [#00001875]

um, what i was going to say is that i think that most aphex
fans like him because they love just sounds and are self
making them.

alan flifton from outer mongolia on 2001-03-29 12:51 [#00001878]

I listen to Jega, bochum welt, Autechre, BOC, Coldplay,
Fingathing, Plaid, Tool, A perfect circle, NIN, Plump DJs,
Fink, old school hip hop - eric b rakim etc, my mates tunes
and my tunes and some other stuff when im not listening to
aphex, which is quite alot actually cos i aint listened to
old richey for a while.......apart from the other day when i
listened to SAW 2 again and realised that i liked it.
I recommend you check any or these artists cos they are
good.

Know what ya mean bout making the tunes, i got about 7
billion tunes on the go at the moment.....nearly.

phiz from Amsterdam on 2001-03-29 12:59 [#00001882]

this month i have been mostly listening to:
The Orb-Cydonia
Shack-Waterpistol
Space Raiders-Hot Cakes
Outkast-Stankonia
Love-Forever Changes(always)
The La's

personaly i can't leave a track i'm making alone until it's
finished, but saying that, it's good to have maybe 5 or 6 on
the go at the same time so you can come back to a tune with
fresh ideas, but if you create a new track each time you
switch the computer on you'll just end up with tonnes of
music that doesn't link to anything else. it might be good
to have loads and loads of snippets of tunes but personally,
that would wreck my head.

Netlon Sentinel from beyond on 2001-03-29 14:11 [#00001884]

i'm a rocker at heart. so here goes:

the smashing pumpkins
tool
radiohead
a perfect circle
NIN
but also depeche mode and i've bought almost every autechre
album over the past few months.
btw, i think experience is a classic too. theother albums
the prodigy made are shite, though. just my opinion :)

Am I the only one here that like classical music?! Old stuff
like Vivaldi and Bach as well as modern like Prokofiev or
Gershwin...

Glitch from New Zealand on 2001-03-29 18:44 [#00001902]

No your not the only one, I really like Albinoni and music
by Film Composers like The Interview With The Vampire
soundtrack and similar others

hedtwin from Manchester, England. on 2001-03-29 19:48 [#00001910]

i nick my dads classical cd's regulary. Don't like anyone in
particular. I just liberate cds and listen to them then put
them back.

I listen to pretty much anything. electronic, punk, metal,
indie, classical, u name it, i will probably listen to it.
ther are only a few types of music i cannot listen to. I
cannot stand teh absolutely shite comercial dance songs that
are constantly in teh charts. true, some of them are
alrigth, but most of them are utter bollocks in my view. I
also cannot stand the REALLY mega repetitive happy hardcore
music either.

When I'm not listening to Aphex twin I'm usually listening
to :
Future Sound of London
Fatboyslim (mainly his older stuff, If you don't like him
because of his "popular" stuff, try listening to "acid 8000"
"love island" and "how can the hear us" (my favourite song
ever)
Prodigy (Jilted Generation mostly)
Chemical brothers
And good videogame and movie music (such as quake 1 music,

I don't see why people are critising fatboyslim and prodigy,
They're both very good

the spiral. his tune 'at the heart of it all' is one of his
best ever, along with alberto balsalm.]

i'm also into: ambient, hardcore, jungle, metal, rock,

Wes is cool though, maybe he needs a band change.

LtAirComStarscream from NEW YORK on 2001-03-30 20:48 [#00002124]

Hexane - C64 is an old computer. Commodor 64 it has a SID
musical player and the music just kicked ass. Most of the
music sounds like old kernkraft and shit like that. Plus
alot of techno DJs use samples and sounds from C64 games.
One that was recently was that shitty song Zombie Nation
which was a complete rip from the game Lazy Jones. That band
didnt evan change one not they left the whole chorus the
same. Those guys have no talent whatsoever if they have to
steel a full song.

weird-tom from France on 2001-03-30 21:08 [#00002127]
