I never really listened to any rap, not liking what I'd been exposed to, but last semestre I took a class on epic literature that spent a lot of time explaining the evolution and traditions involved in rap music, and something of the history - from modern music back to tribal griots. I still can't say I really enjoy listening to it, but I can appreciate it as a form. I'd never taken the time to look at it as art. |

Dude, I will say this again, very slowly: by seeing representatives of some genre on MTV, you do not, I repeat, do not get the actual picture about the genre in question.
