This is a question for all hi-fi maniacs.
I'd like to create a great impianto hi-fi in my house and
i'd like to know your opinion.

Which are your favs speakers and subwoofer, in your
opinion?
I.e. B&W, Jamo, Polk Audio, etc...

Let me know which is the best brand.

I'm quite happy with my current setup: Dynavoice speakers
(details on request)... but I'm not sure they are available
in other countries than Sweden.

Are you looking for an amplifier as well?

My middle of the range cambridge soundworks surround sound
system is a good all round system that works especially well
for films and EAX games as well as being tolerable (if not
great) for music.

I use Mordaunt Short Declarations. Got a pair of
floorstanding 906's (linkey) and am in the process
of buying a pair of stand mounted 902s (linkey) for
post-uni home cinema goodness ;)
The 906s ROCK but make sure you have a BIG room and no
fecking fabric on the walls (muffles the sound) oh yeah and
spikes !!!

Yeah, I should buy an ampli too... I'm choosing between
DENON, TEAC, ONKYO, MARANTZ and YAMAHA.

I've had Yamaha amps in the past and have been pretty
impressed by their quality.

If you're looking for a mini system by any chance, check out
the Teac 500 series. Great sound and a nice clean look.

Thiel makes outstanding speakers, probably some of the best
you can buy, but they're rather expensive and more geared
toward audiophiles.

I would actually like to know some recommendations for a
good subwoofer. I'm trying to put together a system myself.

JBL and BOSE are amazing.

I sort of know my stuff when it comes to this subject. I
work in a giant appliance store.

...mhm... anyway I think B&W are the bests but are too
expensive :(
I like the Jamo' sound too but they're expensive too.

Junk But Loud! ;)

Refering to the foldback series of JBL's!

How much are you willing to pay? It would be easier to
recommend a system if we know this.

I'd like to spend about 2.000$ for 2 front speakers, 2 back
speakers, 1 central speaker, 1 subwoofer, 1 ampli and 1 DVD
player.

well, here's my setup:

2 x Dynavoice Studio 2 (front)
1 x Dynavoice Moviemagic 2 (rear+center)
1 x Dynavoice Ground Zero 12" (subwoofer)
1 x Sony STRDB870 Amplifier/Receiver

... around 1500$ USD for this lot.

...although i'm using my Sony TAFB940 amp for HI-FI sessions,
playing music that is.

highly recommended! sony is good.

It's impossible to find dynastar in Italy, they seem really
good speakers.
Your system is really very good.

I've only some doubt about Sony, maybe I'd prefer brands as
Denon, Onkyo or Marantz.

The QS-serie from SONY is damn good. That's all I can say.

damn, some of you have a lot of money to spend on this
stuff. I've got a budget system. a sony str-de185 stereo
receiver and a pair of yamaha ns-6390 3-way "bookshelf"
speakers. I put bookshelf in quotes because I'm not sure
what kind of bookshelf they would fit on. It's definitely
good enough for me. I'm not obsessed with perfect sound or
anything.

For enjoy music like Confield by Autechre or Drukqs by AFX
it's important to have a great quality stereo, imo.
I'm not obsessed with the hi-fi, at the moment i've only a
simple stereo by Sharp but my next purchase will be amazing
(i hope).
