I bought a Gamecube

I just went on a wacky shopping spree while my family was
down and bought a Gamecube, Resident Evil remake, and Super
Mario Sunshine.

Fuck, Mario is amazing (predictably), and RE is the best
looking game I've ever seen.

Metroid Prime, Perfect Dark Zero and Zelda have me
salivating. But as of right now... there's a shit selection
of games for it.

Who has a Gamecube, what's your fave games? I have a GC and
a PS2, but no fucking way will I buy an Xbox.

Good on you Ophecks, Nintendo'll sort you out with good
games, just hang on for a couple more months :)

You have chosen well, my young apprentice....
Get yourself Star Wars Rogue Leader (it looks AMAZING), and
Turok:Evolution for the ultimate first-person shoot 'em up.
I dunno if it's out yet, but if not it will be
imminently...Niiice!!

Heh, you Canadians, everything has to be "wacky" or "zany".

Hmm I want to get a gamecube -- the price is tantalisingly
low -- but I waste enough time with computers as it is.

But I suspect that by the time the Metroid and Zelda games
have come out, I will no longer be able to resist.

That's a ridiculous amount of points you have there!!

Anyway,I have about 7 games.Sonic being my fave.
Turok:Evolution looks good (let's hope it has good gameplay
as well)

Those three you mentioned have me dribbling also. The current
range is limited-Nintendo's usual tactic of putting quality
before quantitiy (not such a bad thing)....but they had
better get their finger out!!

X-Box will follow DC soon!!

hmm... i was just thinking of blowing some cash on a
Gamecube this morning... maybe this will push me over the
edge......i figure the Gamecube is the furthest from PC
games experience with the Ninetendo legecy ... i just
sometimes get the feeling that some consider the Gamecube a
failure of sorts...?

Ubik - Fuck them. I've got one and its fantastic and it's
true Nintendo tend to release quality over quantity. I just
hope they can do more of the quantity cos I think that's
where they messed up with the N64

Ha ha, something we agree on :)
I really like the DC, many people trash it, but the fact is
until very recently it was the best next gen console.

Consoles are like music- buy what you like and sod what
other people think.

I have a DC, and it was disapointing to see it go under so
fast, it was pretty decent. Sega used to be such a console
bigshot, sad to see them lose that aspect. Still great game
developers, but I miss the Genesis.

I really want a Gamecube Mario Kart... Mario Kart 64 is my
favorite multi player ever, I lose my mind. 4 player Kart on
GC would just make me wet myself.

I still have mine, Check out:

I just stumbled across it, you can still buy sega genesis
games (presumably new as it's an official sega site)!

I need some new games but.

Yeah, I mean, look at AT fans, we're a minority, but his
music is far better than "popular music".

The same is true with consoles, whilst I'm not anti-xbox or
PS2 I recognise the quality in the less popular gamecube and
dreamcast.

I still buy DC games & peripherals and I enjoy the games I
have far more than the latest PC/PS2 titles...

Super Smash Brothers Melee is great fun though it's
primarily a multiplayer game. From the things I've heard
you say though you're a real fucking loser and probably
wouldn't have many people to play it with...So... You may
want to skip that one. Rent it for a family gathering or
something.

I dunno...Halo makes the xbox worth buying alone. It's got a
nice 10 gig hard drive for me to copy my cds, so i can
lsiten to my tunes while playing my games. I just went for
the most powerful one, the games are huge, what more can i
ask for?

Have nuffin against any other consoles. This was just my
choice:)

*Looks forward to hearing all the reasons why the xbox is
gonna fail and why it's so shit, seeing that no one's tried
it*

Everyone's got somethin bad to say about it, when there's
not one bad thing about it. ONly thing I can think of is the
size, it's too big (for a traveller like me).

After playing Mario Sunshine for several days now my
feelings on it are a bit mixed. Definately not as good as
Mario64 was.. Horrid camera angles, touchy controls, cheesy
mini-levels, frustrating objectives.. I'm a little
disappointed to tell you the truth. If it weren't for those
adorable little toadlings I would have lost it long ago..
Anyone else have an opinion on the game?

i suppose it would be nice to have a 128-bit system tho. my
reasons for wanting one:

ps2 - gta3

gamecube - smash bros melee, metroid prime, mario sunshine

xbox - munch's oddessy

I agree completely! It seems the main reason everyone has
such a grudge against it is primarily because it was made by
Microsoft..."Because you know...they've got like, lots of
money and shit..and that means they fucking suck." Seriously
though, it's an amazing system and will have some PHENOMENAL
games out by the end of the year. Right now it's a little
lacking.. In fact, I've only been satisfied by two games for
it(Halo and Morrowind) so it may be better to hold off on
picking one up until a little later in the year. Take a
look through the official Xbox magazine and watch some of
the videos on the demo disc if you're still unsure about the
future of it as a console... Some titles to keep your eye
on : Project Ego(especially), B.C., Psychonauts..

Opposite for me. I was disapointed at first, but it's grown
on me. AWESOME game, but it's not as good as Mario 64.
Actually, I think I may start a new save on 64 for old
time's sake.

I love the backpack-less mini levels, and the camera is
tough at first but I've gotten used to it, though it was
easier in M64... and I think it controls like a dream.

I'm right and you're wrong, na-na-na-naaaa-na! :-p

I HATE the backpack-less mini levels! It's impossible to
judge the distance between things.. I either over estimate
and fall off the other side or under estimate and never make
it! And the music is so aggravating! ARRRGH! Makes me
want to jam a screwdriver in my ear..

mario won't be released until october 4th here in europe :-(

But I have no doubt that i will love it... i completely and
utterly trust nintendo... they have NEVER let me down
before... so i'm sure mario sunshine is an excellent game
aswell :-D I can't wait to finally (after 10 years!) get on
yoshi's back again in a mario-game! Woohoo!

Having said that... and even though i think the graphics
look awesome... i am somewhat dissapointed with the whole
holiday-theme that game has got going... i wish it would
just take place in a magical kingdom. But who knows... maybe
when i get to play it, i'll think the holiday-theme was
actually a good idea...

and speaking of mario... yesterday i completed Paper Mario
for the first time! That was one great game! I loved every
second of it... i'd almost say they could have sold it as
the "official" 2nd mario-game on the N64... it's that good,
even though the gameplay is totally different.

There's more humor in there than any other game i've ever
played... i love all the little jokes and references to
previous mariogames... this was the first time ever i was
actually laughing out loud because of a videogame!

its just as good as 64. I went back and played 64 a few

Yep... it's Ok, but the game was perfect to begin with. But
it's fun to see some new quirks, it doesn't add or take away
too much. Wario Land for GBA is AMAZING, though!

Resident Evil GC remake is so gorgeous... what a brilliantly
designed game. It's so scary and tense that I actually stop
playing sometimes so I can fucking relax. RE2 and the rest
lack this magic, I find.

It's not just a graphical upgrade either. The whole mansion
is different, the puzzles are rearranged and everything.
Worth the cash!

I'm getting an xbox a little later down the road, and as
FlyAgaric said, there isn't anything wrong with it, except
that the regular controller is too big, but they sell
smaller controllers now! I'm going to buy it when I go off
to college, since I will no longer be able to use my parents
dvd player, plus it's gonna have some awesome games, and
already does have some good games.

until then, my PC and DC will last me a while longer.

the gamecube is a cool lil package, but lack of games i
like, cept for the new resident evil (which i've played
beaten and loved) and a few assorted others...

i'm a ps fan though..GTA3 is awesome and vice is gonna
rawk!! Medal of honor is great too. besides, at the moment
it gives you some bang for your buck. everything else
requires an additional "pack' or dohickey to run dvd's etc.
plays all of my old ps1 games that i love.

Xbox sucks...i love my Atari 2600 over it, better
music/graphix/game selection ;)

Anyway, Turok : Evolution is a terrible game for the Xbox
and I imagine it's shittyness carries over to the PS2 and
Gamecube as well. Avoid it like the plague!
Navigation is lousy.. Very jagged and unresponsive.
Everyone knows smooth controls are a MUST in first person
shooter games and unfortunately this one falls about three
shits short of the bowl. Gameplay is the same old pop a
cap, flip a switch, exit the level garbage that's been the
ho-hum convention of this genre since Wolfenstein.. Argh.
