WHO GOT SCAMMED FOR APHEX IN NYC?

who wants to admit they have been SCAMMED? NOT ME, AND I
GUESS THAT IS HOW YOU FEEL! SO IMAGINE WHAT I FEEL LIKE, I
HAVE PAID A $9,200. DEPOSIT TO "AN AGENT" FOR APHEX TWIN IN
PARIS. MY COMPANY HAS A REPUTIBLE RECORD OF PRODUCING GOOD
EVENTS IN NYC AND THE TALENT SHOWING UP- SO I HAVE MUCH MORE
TO LOSE IF THIS EVENT DOES NOT HAPPEN THAN THE FEW $$$ EACH
ONE OF YOU(s) WILL LOSE IF THIS SHOW DOES NOT HAPPEN. NOT TO
DOWN PLAY THE INCONVENIENCE THIS HAS CAUSED EVERYONE. WE ARE
NOW PUTTING A BID IN FOR APHEX TWIN ALONG WITH THE
EXPLANATION OF OUR/YOUR SITUATION TO REPHLEX. WE HAVE BEGUN
TO HYPE UP THE EVENT AND SOLD MANY TIX (all of which will
get a refund if the show does not happen). I AM LOOKING
FORWARD THAT THE SHOW WILL HAPPEN, EITHER WAY WE WILL KEEP
EVERYONE UPDATED! ANDY

i still don't understand HOW ticketbastard could/can sell
tickets for a show that wasn't gonna happen??

i mean don't they confirm with the artist or do they just
turn a blind eye and take peoples hard earned money??

it's scarey to think this kind of scam can even happen. =/

The one that www.rephlex.com had a notice up about
denouncing it as pure myth ?

he's right. =/

It isn't hard to fake something like this.

Face it. You have been ripped off. If you feel frustrated at
yourself for being an idiot. It is entirely justified.
Idiot.

offline Zeus from San Francisco (United States) on 2002-09-02 00:41 [#00375028]
Points: 14042 Status: Lurker

yeah i have been ripped off, but it doesnt mean im an idiot

it was a well done scam

he convinced the club, and they sold tickets

how am I supposed to shrug that off as a hoax, when the
roxy, an established and famous club says its happening?

fuck you

offline Zeus from San Francisco (United States) on 2002-09-02 00:45 [#00375032]
Points: 14042 Status: Lurker

$40

and I bought 2, one for me and one for my sister

but Im getting the money back, because even if the gig
doesnt happen, the Roxy cannot keep the money. They are a
legitamit establishment with a reputation to hold up

I just don't get this.

how can a reputable club get conned like that?

offline 010101 from Vancouver (Canada) on 2002-09-02 00:52 [#00375046]
Points: 7669 Status: Regular

All you need to do is to call a club and discuss it. I used
to work in the theatre and a lot of tours are booked before
the headline is even confirmed. But usually you can't buy
ticket until it is.

well I thought the $40 was a ridiculous price, but then
there were a LOT of people (also on this mb) that snapped
them up.

Well blow me over and fuck me sideways!

I was skeptical, but thought it was for real and all that. I
really shouldn't care, since I'm all the way across the
continent, and in a completely different country than New
York. But yah. 'FUCK" for alll the people that did buy the
tix.

talked and DJed with Mr. Richard D. James. He's
talked with him many times, and also has a signed Analogue
Bubblebath I cd single. :-O!!!!

he said he works for " stuck on earth " these are NY party
promoting companies which would do anything to make a dime
which is why the rave scene has gone to shit in NY and why
the city has gotten so tough on clubs.. this should've been
expected .. they usualy pull of scams like illegally turning
off the water at parties illegally then charging outrages
prices for bottled water! FUCK STUCK ON EARTH theres
probably a long list of other scams they've done just check
any message board regarding the ny rave scene

I'm hoping that's now it's Monday there'll be some updated
news on this...bit tricky to sort out at the weekend...

Stuck on Earth have a website & web forum over at
www.stuckonearth.com, in which I've posted a question about
the gig...

Jeff Cohen replied...

"we are looking into this matter right away, at this time I
have no idea why that is posted on rephlex, we have a signed
contract with his manager and we sent deposits. For some
reason if the show doesn't happen, but as far as we know we
have signed contracts with them and they have our money,
everyone will get a full re-fund, we are a very reliable and
honest company "...

Let's hope we hear something new today....

lol @ 010101
I wish I could pull off a cool scam like that. Why would I
want a suit where everyone but me sees me naked? I might as
well just walk around naked.

What gave it away from the start? I didn't see too much
about it, but from what I've read it seemed awfully genuine.
I'm not sure what would have made it look suspicious to
anyone.
