GOOD bands like them, do NOT exist anymore...Man, When
those guys REALLY put their minds to it, they were
unstoppable...Easily one of the top 3 bands of the 90's.
Cornell's voice is unmatched...Sooo cool.

( Listens in mourning, thinking of the ridiculous "projects"
that are being done )

IL...

yea....playing the KILLAH, he was good.

ethan hawke is an overall talent IMO.

i'm all for people moving on....cancelling bands when they
aren't working etc.. but WHY WHY WHY stop making music all
together??

that drives me nuts....such a waste of talent!

pumpkins were THE rock bands of the 90's.

his solo album wasn't so bad... it's only a shame he
released the worst song (can't change me) as the first
single... and the bonustrack where he sings the same song in
french :-p That's awful!

But otherwise i really enjoyed the solo-album. It's MUCH
better than down on the upside imo.

But ofcourse... it doesn't really compare to superunknown
:-) I miss them too :-(

Do you think in 10 years time on some messageboard some guy
will start a "i miss limp bizkit"-topic? I can hardly
imagine... but is limp bizkit just crap, or am i getting too
old to understand them? :-p

"Wave Goodbye" is amazing! (and musically rather different
from what he's done before... beautiful), but also the
lyrics to that one are very touching (it's a song about Jeff
Buckley)

"Dissappearing One" is another highlight for me... such a
simple and powerful song.

"Pillow of your bones" sends shivers down my spine everytime
i hear it (and the music wasn't even written by chris)... a
very ehm...dramatic song, dramatic in the same way as "the
day i tried to live"

And finally "steel rain" is truly special aswell (there are
more songs that i love, but i think 4 is a nice number to
list as favorites)... it's the last song on the album (not
counting the stupid bonustrack), and always leaves me a bit
depressed because it's so sad (but ultimately beautiful).

so:

1. wave goodbye
2. dissapearing one
3. pillow of your bones
4. steel rain

thanks for the recommendations!

do you think cornell will ever put out another solo album?
it's been a while.

also do you think that album w/ RATM will come out?

The album with RATM is supposedly still going to be
released, even though the band (chris + ratm-members)
doesn't exists anymore... but last thing i read is that it
WILL actually be released... let's keep our fingers crossed
eh? (i know i will).

I dunno about another solo-album. It would be wonderful if
he did... but maybe he just retired. Like you said, it's
been a while. What a waste of talent that would be though
:-/

He (chris) also helped out in putting together Jeff
Buckley's postume album... altough i'm not entirely sure
what he *actually* did on there... i don't think he can be
heard playing any music, but he is mentioned somewhere in
the liner-notes.

wonderful >:-)

The sooner fred durst dissapears from the music-scene
forever, the better!

It has been along time though since a new band stood up that
really got me excited :-/ Not as excited as new bands in the
90's have made anyway.

The best 2002-equivalent of really great 90's bands like
soundgarden and smashing pumpkins is probably...eh... Muse?
I guess. They're hugely succesful, and i would give them
much more respect than i would limp bizkit... but still...
when compared to soundgarden or the smashing pumpkins or
early pearl jam... Muse just don't compare

taught us its: Blow up the outside world.

I dunno muse...his voice is highly annoying. It's sad
though, there are no more good bands. Like most people here,
I hate lyrics, I can never relate them, they mean shit
(there are a few exceptions though)...hoever, chris cornell
wrote some cool ass lyrics :)

'I woke the same as any other day except a voice was in my
head. It said seize the day, pull the trigger drop the blade
and watch the rolling heads'

No one writes good lyrics anymore. Speakin of good
lyrics...if anyone can tell me what this is from, I'll be
very impressed:

"What if your brain, unexpectedly and suddenly, picked out
things to flip around
and view a lot differently? What if blue sky, all of a
sudden turned a purple hue?
We would shit a brick the size of all of it... what if?
What if I was just daydreaming? What if I lived in a pear?
What if my watch read 4:20 every hour, every day? You can
bet your dollar I'd be happy! I forgot to remember; I forgot
to remember my pain. Take me to your leader or die by the
fly guy!

I forgot to remember my...PAIN! My pain! Forgot to inject
my...cocaine! Forgot to apply my...rogaine! Forgot to
remember...my pain! I never think, I never thought, oh maybe
I'm insane!
I think I like being way the fuck out of my brain! I forgot
to remember; I forgot to remember my pain. Take me to your
leader or die by the fly guy! "

I doubt it anyway. Enough. I'm gettin too excited over
somethin no one cares about.

i didn't actually mean i like Muse

But i just think they may be one of the few "sincere" bands
out there today... not in it for the money like Limp Bizkit
etc. That muse-singer seems like a genuine tortured artist
;-)

So out of all the popular rockbands-around these days... i
probably like them the best... but i still can't listen to
any of their entire albums without getting bored :-/

We desperately need someone like kurt cobain to stand up
again and start something new and exciting.

And until that day... i still have all my old
soundgarden/nirvana/stp & pearl jam albums :-D

Think i'm gonna listen to temple of the dog now, thanks for
reminding me of that one woofer :-)

audioslave is terrible.

Chris Cornell's voice has always been dangerously on the
edge of becoming Full Blown Corny Metal Voice and in that
band he plummets into the depths.
