Do you think you know Squarepusher? Well, think again. To
find out why, check themilkfactory
(http://www.themilkfactory.co.uk) this month for a full
review of the new album.

Also, we have an exclusive interview with Fernando Corona,
aka Murcof, the man behind this year’s most imaginative
and intense album, Martes.

Also reviewed this month on themilkfactory: Boom Bip, Bovine
Life vs. Komet, Gus Gus, Inkblot, Isan, Sybarite and Susumu
Yokota.

great review but one hitch though..did anybody else know
that Tom and Rich were in competition with each other?

I surely didnt.

I thought the relationship was one of friendship and
collaboration. They are forming a record label together fer
chrissake..

Yeah but i don't think he ment it like that
I think he was just saying that he thought that Tom was
more ahead of the others in terms of inovation , breaking
new grounds...or something?
Im not sure i agree tho , will see what richard come up with
in the future.

yeah to me it feels like the ball bounces back and forth
between them..Go Plastic was state of the ART..but then
drukgs came out and stuff like Ziggomatic surpassed Go
Plastic..I think..thats the fun of it..

I agree!
I also think that Aphex windowlicker EP was highly inovating
, it introduced some new effects and sounds never heard
before (and hidden pictures hehe!) and i think it influenced
alot of electronic artists like for example Leafcutter John
and Mike Dred and last but not least the Pusher who took the
"Fake Scratching" (heard on windowlicker) technique and
perfected it.

totally agree about Windowlicker..but interestingly..Mike
Dred/Peter Green Virtual Farmer predates it..but then again
I hear some snathces of those effects tenchniques etc..on
LP5..so Ae might just be at the root of it all as usual...:)

speaking of the equation track tho - one of the realplayer
soundclips on this site had a demo version of it way back in
95? not sure bout that .. didn't have all the intricacies,
but the idea was there well before 99 ??

But yeah, seems Ae comes up trumps everytime .. almost
boring :)

ok correction, definetly was not 95 (dunno what i was
thinking) but it was RDJA / Come to daddy era i thunk ..

Speaking of fx, there's the bouncing ball thing as well,
Cichli Suite [i think, forget which track, definetly on LP5]
vs Bucephalus Bouncing Ball

Fake Scratches? And by perfect, is there a track by
Squarepusher that's got really good fake scratching?

i'm not sure he is light years ahead of aphex an Vsnares,
maybe the later but aphex take a totally differenbt
direction with his drill'n'bass than than Tom, so no
comparison in fact i say...
light years ahead of aphex what a joke!!

[from Go Plastic-review on same site]

"Despite the few moments of calm (Metteng Excuske V1.2, The
Exploding Psychology, Tommib, Plaistow Flex Out)"

Excuse me?!
Exploding Psychology may well be THE MOST intense track on
there!

Well that is open to debate ofcourse, but it's hardly a
'moment of calm' to my ears!
