I know the effect you mean, I've never found a plugin to do
it satifactorily. You just have to manually cut, paste,
paste paste, paste.

I always thought it was just a matter of cutting and pasting
the waveforms...at least that's what it looks like when my
friend edits his music in acid.

Yes that's it, but you have to paste several times in a
short period of time to make the "stutter".

I have a "Stutter" effect, and it does a great job...

well, you could gate the sound then copy the short blips
then repeat them, it always sucks when i do it though :(

you whipper-snappers! with your effects and gates and
veggieloops!

when i was a kid, we would record our source material and
have it pressed onto a dubplate. then, we would take a
magnifying glass and razor blade and create the skips
manually in the record then resample it! all this in 3 feet
of snow mind you...

you have?

Mr. Apples of the ground:

Yes, I always admired the old skool BoC style analogue
"dirty" methods...

BOC's style, hmmmm programing their synths, then doing a
second run fiddling about with the tune knobs, thats how
they make that sound...or maybe put a coffee mug on the tape
decks to make the spindels spin slower/faster....i'm not
bashing them i actually like their sound, but anyone can
achieve it....its what they write

main methods 1: cut and paste, good if you have time and
don't mind experimenting 2: plugins, ok but most ones out
there are a bit duff 3: set a sustaining loop on a sample so
that it repeats over and over depending on how you set the
loop method, also if you use the same sample but with
different loop points and map it to a different key you can
add a bit of depth
