Neither do you! ;.)

Lot of "IDM" seems to be mostly geared toward male taste in
music anyway, so its no big surprise she was turned off by
it...

There are exceptions, but that's the general impression I've
seen...

brain dance.....
that is what some sites call IDM
i find it stupid

I agree, I found no term that accurately describes the music
we listen to so intently...

lets just call it electronic
what is wrong with calling it electronic

Braindance is what Aphex calls IDM, not some sites (although
some sites do). It was a term invented by the boys at
Rephlex, and given how stupid IDM makes people sound
(especially when people ask what IDM stands for) then
erm...I forgot how I was gonna end this.

offline electro from detroit on 2002-08-27 03:51 [#00366664]

at least i do
i dont care what people call it or what terms they want to
use
it is electronic

offline ecnadniarb on 2002-08-27 03:52 [#00366667]
Points: 24805 Status: Lurker | Show recordbag

that is exactly what I was gonna say...electronic without no
stupid a on the end. :)

1. why is joyrex being a bloody troll tonight?
2. ae wouldn't call their music "braindance", they're not
signed to rephlex!
3. i can think of at least one girl on here who can't stand
ae.

the real term is either.
idm is an accepted term, even if lots of ppl dislike the
fact that it has "intelligent" in it's title (yes that
includes me too)
i prefer to use the term braindance
but realy, who cares?

it's all about the music, not the packaging

c'mon guys, there are girls that like to listen Ae music,
but they are more reserved and don't say all the time: "hey
I'm very smart and educated cause I listen Ae albums..."

don't underestimate girls never, don't be sexist

i used to count myself as a 'girl' that didn't like
AE.....but that was because i'd just listened to what
everyone called their seminal album.....CONFIELD.

i do not like CONFIELD =0)

however there are several tracks, one in particular that i
can say i LOVE, i do want to buy one CD in particular,
otherwise i'll leave the AE worship to ze doodz =0)

Braindance is more beat oriented..simply doesnt cover al the
beat varieties of IDM..which by the way i dont have any
problem with..it's a good well esrtablished umbrella
terms..covering plenty of branchlets...glitch, drill,
Intelligent Techno, Braindance, even some downbeat etc..

believe it or not phobia sent that track (vletrmx21) song to
me and thats HOW i discovered that i may be mistaken about
AE....do'H

*i don't make mistakes* =0)

i've been seriously looking for it for 2 wks, as i said i'm
gonna have to order on-line, but my opinion of confield
remains the same.....ewwwwww.....ehhehee

Yeah...Confield NOT for the faint-hearted, although among
Ae's later work it's the most solid album they've done since
Tri Rep...

I think TR++ will go down better...

its so wierd... and i know it doesnt make any sense to
someone that is new to AE and stuff...

but now listening to confield, is just as pleasent as
anything else by them

even the crazy rythems are soothing and relaxing... its
meditative almost

i go to bed with it on

3 months ago, I would never beiieved i was saying that!

neto u misunderstood what i meant, i just find the music
very, destructive-cold, and angry really... its not
something girls usually are into, thats all...

Actually, the music we're talking about really isn't
experimental. Real experimental electronic music is more
abstract.

yes, but not abstract in the sense of it being formless,
abstract by its removal from conventions and cliches in
electronic music.

experimental is art, and stuph liek fals.ch that aronZ
pointed me towards.

I don't think anyone as being sexist. If someone said
something like "powderfinger is a band that boys dont
generaly like" i'd say "fair enough btu i reckon soem of
their stuff is pretty good"
or whatever.

Well style of music/band, you know what i mean.

ChildrenTalking, I know what you're talking about. I like
grind/death/black metal bands and is unusual that girls are
into some extreme acts... but then again, there they are...
just a very few but there they are.

I wrote my previous message thinkin in the sexism that is
always floating around in all the music genres... just that,
nothing personal.

Peace.
