this is NOT a "pity me" thread. my sound card was fine earlier today, now it's all messed up. everything's plugged in correctly. there was no lightning but i did have to pull the plug out of the socket a couple times cos i have a computer that doesn't have an on/off button - just on - and when the computer freezes i have to just yank it out the socket. is that what killed my sound card or what? bear in mind my computer is only a year and a half old, sound card shouldn't have up and died like that. to be more specific, the current sound is like a subwoofer w/ no speakers. the subwoofer is normal, if not a little quieter, but the speakers are at about 5% their normal volume and instead of spitting the treble they're murmuring like the subwoofer.

nevermind, it ain't the sound card, it's the subwoofer. i'll sort it out. if anyone has any recommendations for finding the root of a subwoofer problem you're welcome to share...
